Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Strong experience in
telemetry and medical surgical nursing Ability to manage a variety
of patient conditions and diagnoses Description: We are seeking a
dedicated Registered Nurse for a Medical Surgical/Telemetry unit.
The unit consists of 20 beds and provides care for adult patients
with diverse medical conditions. Common diagnoses include COPD,
CHF, cardiac arrhythmia management, uncontrolled diabetes,
respiratory illnesses, GI infections, and behavioral health issues.
The typical nurse-to-patient ratio for telemetry is 1:4-5 and for
MedSurg is 1:5-6, depending on acuity, which may increase to 1:7-8
during surge staffing. CNA support is available with a ratio of
1:10. Nurses are expected to have skills in trach care, chest tube
management, PIV starts, wound care, feeding tube and NGT placement
and management. Common medications administered include Cardizem,
Amiodarone, Heparin, Lasix, and Octreotide. Nurses will work
collaboratively with a support team that includes CNAs for vital
signs, feedings, and other ADLs. The unit utilizes technology such
as electronic medical records and telemetry monitors. Staff may be
required to float to other facilities within the region as needed.
Traveling between facilities during a shift will be compensated.
Scheduling includes a standardized weekend rotation and holiday
expectations require working 75% of holidays. Request time off is
limited to 6 days, excluding holidays, and must be added to the end
of the contract if required. Navy scrubs are the designated color
