Gaston College is seeking an Education Navigator-SNAP2Skills Program, Continuing Education (Full-Time, Temporary, Grant-Funded) for its Lincoln CampusSNAP2Skills is a project of the U.S. Department of Agricultures Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) that is designed to provide states the technical assistance, tools, and resources they need to build more effective and job-driven SNAP Education and Training (E&T) programs.The SNAP2Skills Education Navigator manages the Department of Agriculture's Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) Education and Training (E&T) program activities in collaboration with the Coordinator of Occupational and Continuing Education. This position will create and implement best practices for working with the Lincoln County Department of Social Services to strengthen the ability to serve Food and Nutrition Services Education & Training (FNS E&T) participants, meet with students to guide program selection, create career pathways, and assist students facing challenges along the way. The Education Navigator will serve as a liaison to the College to ensure effective communication in the interest of student progress and engagement, and will have a role in retention initiatives at the department and College-wide level.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Document and capture best practices in reinforcing collaboration between the College and the Lincoln County Department of Social Services (DSS) as part of the SNAP2Skills grant, including models on leveraging resources and understanding partner processes.* Advise eligible students in the development of career pathway plans, academic plans, goal identification, and barrier removal in education and employment.* Coordinate with College departments including Financial Aid, Admissions and Counseling, Adult Basic Education/Life Skills, and Continuing Education in order to meet student needs and promote student success.* Provide resources, support, and referrals to community organizations to assist in student retention activities.* Coordinate with the Lincoln County DSS office on referral systems and documentation requirements for FNS E&T participants.* Identify, develop, and participate in outreach activities (orientations, job fairs, community events, funding workshops, and individual student appointments).* Create and maintain spreadsheets and documentation to support grant expenses and program offerings, ensuring grant expenditure targets are met.* Maintain electronic records and paper files.* Complete required reports for the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)/DSS and the North Carolina Community College System (NCCCS).* Serve as FNS E&T community college representative at meetings as assigned.* Assist in the writing the yearly state plan applications.* Perform other duties as assigned.MINIMUM EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS:* Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution required.MINIMUM EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:* At least one year of experience in student advising or academic counseling at the college level required.* Documented experience working with social service organizations and/or collaborative programming teams required.* Prior work experience in project management, internship management, student services, job placement, and data collection preferred.* Knowledge of career and student development theories, practices, and ethics required.* Supervisory skills, including orientation, training, team-building, and delegation required.* Effective written and oral communication skills required.* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook and other basic software required.* Ability to generate documents and reports utilizing specific computer applications required.* Experience managing program budgets required.* Experience with FERPA and other confidentiality policies required.* Must have a valid driver's license.recblid tq4wrfchgfmoxxvu3khvghdolvdux1
