Our four major business lines include Corporate & Investment Banking, Commercial Banking, Commercial Real Estate, and Wells Fargo Commercial Capital. We also have groups in credit risk, group risk, finance, marketing, human relations, and the Wholesale Chief Operating Office that support our businesses. This language should be added at the bottom of the job description.Wholesale Control (WC)The Wholesale Control (WC) organization serves as the front line risk management organization within the Wholesale Banking group of Wells Fargo supporting the Wholesale businesses with risk strategy, implementation, and execution. The Wholesale Control team is accountable to assess and effectively manage risks across all risk types and Wholesale businesses delivering an integrated view of risks, producing a sustainable control environment, and instilling a culture of strong risk management. The team is responsible to identify and assess risks, design and implement controls, and execute and monitor the controls to ensure they are working effectively to manage risk across Wholesale. Wholesale Control interfaces with Independent Risk Management and Audit to drive comprehensive and consistent implementation of regulatory and corporate risk policies and programs across Wholesale. This position is within the Wholesale Control Team, which is responsible for the implementation and management of the First Line of Defense risk program requirements. Within Wholesale Control, this position resides in the CIB Business Control team and will support the Equity Research and Fixed Income Research lines of business. This position requires an understanding of Research and Economics (including but not limited to Equity Research, Foreign Exchange Research, High Grade/High Yield Research, Municipal Research, etc.) and will be responsible for the line of business risk, control and governance programs. In addition, this position will provide assistance to help support the CIB issues management program.This position will work with the designated line of business to implement and execute the required risk controls in an effective, sustainable manner and help identify, escalate and pro-actively manage risks in the LOB.Specific responsibilities include: Develop a strong working knowledge of the various Research coverage area functions and the key risk controls that apply to these LOBs Serve as the primary day-to-day coverage officer for the Equity Research and Fixed Income Research teams, with proven knowledge of products, services, processes, systems and customers in these LOBs Continuously engage in discussions with LOB partners on strategy, industry trends, organizational changes, and new/modified markets, systems, products and services, to determine impact and identify and remediate risk control issues across all risk types Collaborate with, guide and counsel Risk Control and LOB partners on control design and implementation to mitigate risks Collaborate with, guide, and counsel LOB process and control owners on identifying where controls reside, managing control changes and evaluating effectiveness Collaborate with, guide, and counsel LOB partners on matters relating to the implementation of corporate policies and Wholesale requirements Help ensure proper LOB profiles of applicable regulations and associated controls as well as residual risks and compensating controls are maintained and continuously updated in appropriate systems of record on an ongoing basis. Responsible for monitoring components of risk-based programs for a specific business in order to identify, assess and mitigate risk that arises Work with the business units and provide risk information and assistance with projects and initiatives Evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of policies, procedures, processes, systems and internal controls, analyze business and/or system changes to determine impact; identify risk issues and may participate in the development of risk ratings Assists the business in development of corrective action plans and effectively managing change Report findings and draft recommendations to mitigate risk for management Coordinates production of periodic risk reports for senior managementTeam members support our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company. They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 1+ year of experience in compliance, operational risk management (includes audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, or the management of a process or business with accountability for compliance or operational risk), or a combination of both
  • 1+ year of experience in one or a combination of the following: additional compliance, additional operational risk management, IT systems security, business process management or financial services industry experience; or a BS/BA degree or higher in business or a related field

      Other Desired Qualifications
      Knowledge of Research & Economics activities and processes Knowledge of RCSA and the SHRP module for RCSA Understanding of Business Process Management Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and experience in articulation of risk both verbally and in writing to various levels of staff and management Ability to demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and adherence to strict deadlines in a fast paced environment Proficiency in banking systems and software Experience with enterprise risk frameworks and related processes.
