Regular or Temporary: Regular Language Fluency: English (Required) Work Shift: 1st shift (United States of America) Please review the following job description: Responsible for enterprise-wide money laundering investigations, terrorist investigations, managing and researching inquiries from government agencies and financial institutions. Ensure full compliance with the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and the USA PATRIOT Act by investigating, analyzing and decisioning BSA-related cases, reports and alerts. Recommend solutions to management from the outcome of subjective BSA or terrorism cases. Responsible for process enhancements, keeping up with emerging compliance trends, coordinating in-depth research requests, merger/conversion activities and working with both internal and external auditors and examiners. Job Location: Charlotte, NC, Raleigh, NC or Winston Salem, NC Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Following is a summary of the essential functions for this job. Other duties may be performed, both major and minor, which are not mentioned below. Specific activities may change from time to time. 1. Manage and monitor compliance/control requirements (e.g. inquiries from government agencies regarding individuals that have been identified as known or suspected terrorists, terrorist organizations or money launderers) to support the Corporate Compliance program. 2. Interpret and maintain strong knowledge of all applicable current and proposed BSA/Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws and regulations. 3. Communicate results of analysis and/or research to appropriate Corporate Compliance/Risk Management Organization personnel, including conclusions and recommendations for next steps. 4. Perform detailed testing or monitoring to identify compliance/control issues or deficiencies, which require corrective action and resolution. 5. Responsible for ensuring the timeline for all BSA-related requirements are met. 6. Must have the ability to work in a high-stress, fast-paced and rapidly changing environment. 7. Lead the coordination and preparation of data and activities required for regulatory examinations and internal audits/tests. 8. Write clear, thorough, logically organized reports or proposals as requested by management (e.g. testing summaries, process enhancements, audit responses, regulatory responses). 9. Maintain awareness of national and world events and industry trends through press releases, internal or external watch lists or other relevant sources to mitigate the company's reputation or regulatory risk. 10. Manage multiple concurrent activities in a timely manner and drive them to completion. 11. Lead and mentor level I and level II Bank Secrecy Act Analysts. 12. Attend BSA/AML training to stay abreast of the BSA/AML laws and regulations in order to serve as a senior subject matter expert for line of business specific and/or BSA/AML laws and regulations. Additional Responsibilities: The High Risk EDD team is responsible for performing onboarding and monitoring reviews of clients designated by the bank as High Risk Clients. Essential duties and responsibilities of the High Risk EDD Analyst may include: 1. Conduct comprehensive investigations of customers by utilizing CIP information, occupation, line of business, income methods, and other information provided at onboarding 2. Make independent decisions to approve or deny prospective clients from establishing a relationship with the bank based on the review findings 3. Analyze high-risk customer transaction activity to ascertain legitimacy of the business and the business transactions, ensuring that the transaction activity is commensurate with the nature of the business entity. 4. Contact branch associates and other business units for clarification of customer's purpose of the account, transactional activity, anticipated activity etc. 5. Prepare written analysis of research findings and make independent recommendations to maintain or exit the relationship. 6. Recommend and support escalation of unusual or potentially suspicious activity to AML group for investigation and SAR filing Required Skills and Competencies: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Four years of banking or related experience; preferably in a branch, audit or compliance area 3. Strong knowledge and experience with BSA regulations and related compliance requirements (including reporting and record retention requirements), and understanding of how changes in those regulations or compliance requirements affect BSA/AML management and other lines of business or subsidiaries within BB&T 4. Thorough working knowledge of the risk indicator trends in money laundering and terrorist financing, and the ability to position our processes to ensure we are able to mitigate those risks at BB&T 5. Knowledge of project management and problem management processes with the ability to represent the applicable line of business within BSA/AML 6. Strong analytical, investigative research and documentation skills 7. Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office software products 8. Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership, line of business managers and external entities (e.g. federal examiners) 9. Ability to travel, occasionally overnight Desired Skills: 1. Master's degree in business or related field, or a graduate of BB&T Banking School or other widely-recognized banking school 2. Two years of project management and problem management processes 3. Working knowledge of user acceptance testing including planning, development and execution of test cases 4.
