Want to be part of our team?The Managed Services Consulting Engineer will proactively support the strategy and innovation in the evaluation of existing services, systems and technologies and will take a lead in the development of strategic solutions and roadmaps to solve challenges of service delivery to the client. This role will provide oversight over design, research, testing and evaluation of services that improve and enhance Dimension Data's managed services reliability, availability and serviceability. The Managed Services Consulting Engineer will collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure that technology decisions and roadmaps align with the overall enterprise architecture strategy.What you'll be doingMajor Duties & Responsibilities Contributes to the overall strategy, architecture and process improvements for the support services platform Supports the implementation of best practices, assessment of new technologies, implementation of POCs, capacity planning, performance tuning Identifies business requirements that affect the enterprise architecture and provides solutions that integrate into the overall architectural vision and strategy Provides leadership and expertise in the development of standards, architectural governance, design patterns and IT practices Engages customers at a high level (CIO/CTO) providing Pre and Post-sales assistance through ongoing analysis and evaluation of the environment Owns design and configuration of customer IT infrastructure and technologies for medium to high complexity environments Proactively provides a consultative contribution to improving Dimension Data systems, services and operational processes Mentors Consultants and Engineers on both technical and business aspects of the assigned client to encourage their professional growth Provides architectural oversight for the IT environment operated for the assigned client(s) Maintains technical and process documentation for assigned ITO customer(s) and sits on Approvals Board for all changes to technology and applicable documentation Directs Onsite and Remote support resources in the execution of services for assigned ITO client(s) Performs problem management and oversees full root cause analysis for customers as required. Delivers report to client CIO/COO, as requested Education/Qualifications Required Professional or Expert level certifications across multiple technologies, i.e. CCIE R/S & Voice or R/S & Security, JNCIS or JNCIP level certifications, CCSE/CCSP is a plus Knowledge of modern IT practices, such as DevOps, Agile, process automation, etc. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education and experience. Four-year college degree in a technical discipline is preferred. Significant experience or certifications in IT best practices/methodologies: ITIL, ISO, Six Sigma, preferred Work Experience Required 12+ years of experience in the IT industry with Enterprise Technology (communications, voice, network, data center/virtualization, or security managed services) experience Proven track record of in-depth technical experience within Outsourced infrastructure and/or network technology solutions and services including both Professional and Managed Services support Track record of consultative solution design. Competency and business acumen to assess and qualify opportunities Proven delivery of complex pragmatic solutions design within industry Skills and Core Competencies Combination of advanced technical aptitude and consultative capabilities with a sales and business focus. An ability to provide thought leadership to internal and external communities Strong verbal/presentation and written communication skills along with a willingness to mentor others in both technical and soft-skill area Exceptional project and time management skills Proven leadership in virtual team constructs across technical, geographical, cultural and consulting teams Ability to travel Possible on call rotation within your specialty (WAN, IPT, IPCC or Security) What would make you a good fit for this role?
