Job Overview
We are currently looking for a Machine Repair to join our team in
Conover, NC.
Schedule is 6:00am - 2:30pm, Monday-Friday, OT schedule: as
needed
Performs routine and emergency maintenance on all machines and
equipment, diagnoses source of problem or potential problem, and
maintains or repairs machines or equipment as needed. Performs
Preventative Maintenance (PM) tasks to promote longevity of
equipment.
Assists other maintenance members and serves as a resource to
engineering and management.Major Responsibilities
- Diagnoses each situation, determines course of action and
repairs or updates machines and equipment.
- Installs, removes, fabricates, alters, and rebuilds
machines/equipment to achieve desired results and comply with all
code requirements.
- Plans, lays out, and fabricates parts and machine equipment,
applying a high degree of skill and extensive knowledge of machine
repair. Creates and builds from own conception in absence of design
specifications.
- Carries out all processes via critical bench and machine
operations. Constructs, alters, repairs, and retrofits intricately
designed and constructed tools, fixtures, gages, machine
attachments, and mechanisms, ensuring proper fit, alignment,
calibration, adjustment, assembly, and completion of work.
- Provides project leadership on major installation or revisions
of machines and equipment at various Haworth facilities.
- Routinely contacts suppliers or manufacturers on part
information, repair issues, improvements, and shipping
instructions.
- Mentors apprentices.
- Creates and completes work requests and work orders, sources
parts from tool crib, and obtains historical work orders
information. Maintains documentation of equipment; completes all
appropriate paperwork.
Do you meet these qualifications?
EDUCATION
- Certificate of completion of four-year apprentice program or
equivalent (equivalent is six years machine repair experience or
four years of military mechanical repair experience).
- Journeyman's Machine Repair, Department of Labor Card
preferred
- Candidates that ALSO hold a Journeysman's Electrician
Department of Labor Card will be given preference in the selection
process. (There is an opportunity to do Machine Repair AND
Electrical work with the right qualifications).
WORK REQUIREMENTS and EXPERIENCE
- Ability to obtain and maintain powered industrial truck
certification.
- Ability to obtain and maintain North Carolina driver
license.
ENVIRONMENTAL and PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Large machinery and equipment used in work areas. Possibility
of cuts, scrapes or bruises.
- Moderate exposure to dust, noise, solvent, heat, paint, and
lubricants. May also be exposed to glue, solvent, heat, paint,
fiberglass, and denatured alcohol.
- Constant mental and visual alertness required to avoid
potential serious injury to self and others in all work
groups.
- Eye protection required; hearing protection may be
required.
- Moves and may lift materials and/or products weighing up to 50
pounds, occasionally more (assistance given with heavier
objects).
- Walks, bends, twists, turns, reaches and lifts while performing
functions of position.
- Standing required for extended periods.
- Work requires regular repetitive arm and hand
movement.
- May be required to climb stairs and ladders.
Applicants must possess an unrestricted right to work in the US to
be eligible for the position. required.Ideally, you have also
demonstrated the following:
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and
machine manuals in order to perform repairs.
- Ability to maintain knowledge of equipment and related test
instruments, e.g., voltage testers, power hand tools, torches,
welders, fabrication and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to use lathe, mill, drill press, welder, and
brake.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain certification for Aerial
Lift and Fall Protection, Overhead Crane, Lock-Out Tag-Out,
Electrical Safety, and Confined Space Entry.
- Ability to troubleshoot and analyze root causes of issues to
determine and implement appropriate corrective action.
- Ability to utilize appropriate electronic production system and
maintenance management system to complete job duties, along with
the respective technology tools, e.g. personal computer (PC),
tablet, keyboard, mouse, RF gun.
