Purpose and Essential Duties
Oversee the production of timely, quality, cost effective
installation documents that transition seamlessly into fabrication
and installation. Lead, develop, and mold a team of detailers to be
cost effective planners and decision makers. Provide your Regional
Operational Unit with a consistently quality product across
multiple jobs through QA/QC, scheduling, budgeting, and detailing.
Be humble and never stop learning! Specific responsibilities
include:
Work with Regional BIM/VDC Director to allocate work, schedule
resources and quality control the detailing processes within your
Region.
Promote Bernhard culture, attitude, and Commitment
Educate your team members on reading/interpreting code, on
establishing and executing a plan of attack on a project, and on
Bernhard best practices.
Monitor outsource detailers on specific job assignments
Assist with securing new Detailers and Outsourcers.
Participate in weekly staff meetings to confirm that the team is
meeting deadlines, optimizing capacity, and maintaining
quality.
Work with BIM Production Leads, Regional BIM/VDC Director, and
Regional Operations Team to schedule deliveries of Trimble layout
drawings, shop drawings, BOMs, fabrication drawings, and as-builts
that meet the direct needs of the Region.
Participate in weekly project meetings on any necessary
Projects.
Learn how to create effective detailing budgets and assist Regional
BIM/VDC Director on pre and post-bid submissions.
Monitor actual cost/projected cost budget on Regional projects.
Self-perform specific BIM/VDC assignments.
Participate in project close-out reporting/meetings to share
lessons learned with the project team and all BIM/VDC personnel in
your group.
Work with other Regional teams and corporate BIM support team
members to keep up with software developments, database
improvements, BIM/VDC advancements, and all training
initiatives
Attend other meetings, job visits, whenever necessary.
Help organize, lead, and/or participate in any/all training
opportunities at your disposal.
Adhere to the departmental code of ethics while exemplifying high
levels of professionalism and leadership that appropriately
represent Bernhard.
This position is Full Time Non-Exempt, and reports to Regional
BIM/VDC Director.
Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
7 to 10 years of experience in BIM
Expert communication skills
Advanced knowledge and understanding of building systems, codes,
cost, fabrication, and installation
Experience in a leadership role with responsibility for development
of others
Advanced software (Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Autodesk
Fabrication, Bluebeam) knowledge
Complete understanding of the BIM/VDC process
Ability to maintain patience and understanding in a stress-filled
environment.

Essential: Extended periods of time at a desk in front of a
computer sitting or standing in an office environment
Occasional: Job site and/or fabrication facility visits to advance
and improve trade knowledge
