The Executive Search Group (ESG) is an innovative in-house
executive search firm within the Office of the President at the
University of Virginia (UVA). Our unique model combines executive
search expertise with deep knowledge of UVA and trusted
relationships to recruit exceptional talent for senior level
positions across the academic enterprise, health system, and
affiliated foundations.Our Executive Search Consultants work in
close collaboration with leadership, search committees, and the
community, in support of the University's , by strengthening our
foundation through the recruitment of talented and diverse faculty
and staff who further the institution's pursuit of excellence and
ensure the continued success of the University for future
generations.ESG has recruited over 300 individuals in the last ten
years and has recruited 27 of the 42 members of the current senior
leadership team. The model is working and there is high demand for
ESG's services. The leaders ESG recruits stay 7x longer than the
national average.ESG is seeking to add to their team, at the Search
Consultant or Senior Search Consultant level. The position will
report to the , and has responsibility for the full life cycle of
searches at the senior leadership level. There is no greater reward

Office of the President, ESG engages in many events throughout the
year in support of the University.The Search Consultant/Senior
Search Consultant will be fully responsible for owning and
executing executive level searches. Candidates will be well versed
in all aspects of executive search or come from a role and field
that is highly transferable.
- Creating robust search strategies to identify and attract the
best, most diverse talent
- Conducting research, along with dedicated support, to map
target organizations with top talent and sources to refer potential
candidates
- Contacting passive candidates directly, conducting prescreening
interviews, preparing candidate reports, calibrating candidates
with decision makers
- Developing prospects into candidates through engagement and
assessment
- Organizing and facilitating stakeholder sessions
- Writing position specifications, creating recruiting reports
and presentations
- Managing communication with hiring official, search chair, and
search committee
- Facilitating all stages of interviews: video, in-person, high
touch on-site visits with stakeholders; leading debriefs,
performing 360 reference checks, and assisting in negotiations,
employment offers, and on boarding
- Developing innovative ways to continue to raise the bar on how
ESG recruits its talentCritical Success Factors

- Search Consultant: Search firm, nonprofit and/or corporate
recruiting experience with a focus on senior management level
candidate generation; consideration will be given to professionals
with experience in roles with transferrable skills. 4+ years of
experience.
- Senior Search Consultant: Progressive search firm, nonprofit
and/or corporate recruiting experience with a focus on executive
level candidate generation in a complex and competitive market;
consideration will be given to accomplished professionals with
significant experience in roles with highly transferrable skills.
Higher education experience preferred. 7+ years of experience.
- Education requirement for both positions: Bachelor's degree
