Senior Electrical/Electronics EngineerLocation: Charlotte NCJob Summary:The Electrical/Electronics engineer designs, develops and tests a wide range of electrical components, equipment and machinery. Will use computer - assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments. Applies principles and techniques of electrical engineering to accomplish goals. Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Creativity and latitude is expected to resolve problems of diverse scopeYour Challenges: Experienced digital/analog, electrical/electronics engineer, capable of designing three phase actuator motor controllers, digital or analog based, for new product introductions Design, simulate, implement and test digital electronics using discrete circuits, CPLDs, FPGAs, DSPs, and microcontrollers, and generate firmware using VHDL, Verilog, C++. Design analog and digital signal conditioning circuits and amplifiers, analog and digital filters, modulation/demodulation circuits, oscillators, mixers, ADC/DAC converters, digital communication circuits, power-drive bridges, and AC/DC switch mode power supply converters to support product design activities. Design feed-forward and feedback control circuits and system/signal compensation electronics. Generate circuit design schematics, layouts, printed circuit boards (PCB) using Altium within boundaries of internal processes/procedures. Model and simulate analog and digital circuits using simulation tools such as P-spice, MATLAB/Simulink, Model-Sim, and FPGA/CPLD vendor tools (Xilinx, Altera, etc.) Implement hardware prototypes, breadboard designs, and test them in the lab environment. Serial communication systems design, which includes working with network protocols (RS-485, CANbus, ARINC 429, etc.) utilizing commercial chip-base modules. Generate high quality specifications, reports, publications, and support proposals. Experience dealing with environmental testing for avionics equipment/components and familiarity with RTCA/MIL standards. Including, DAL certifications for aerospace application and familiarity with RTCA DO-160, DO-178, and DO-254 specifications. Utilize understanding of digital design process including requirements generation, preliminary design, peer reviews, detailed design, test plan generation, integration and test. Experience with pre-contract customer discussions, briefing technical capabilities, conducting in-person trade study discussions, including schedule and cost impacts and shaping technical requirements. Review vendor experience and capability to support product development. US citizenship required. Security clearance is a plus.Your Expertise: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering. Experience in the development of actuator and motor controllers is a plus. Software or firmware development experience for embedded controllers required. Strong oral and written communication skills with knowledge of MS Office. Refined soft skills required for coaching/mentoring. Excellent analysis and decision-making skills. Strong customer interface capabilities and negotiation skills required. Project Management experience and familiarity in root cause and corrective action methodologies. Ability to interact with all levels of internal and external management. Creativity, innovation, and commitment to excellence with the ability to work in a diverse, fast paced environment. Ability to work in a team environment. Customer focused with a bias towards action. 4-6 years of experienceThis position may require exposure to export-controlled information and subject to additional security screening.
