Equitable employs a "Three Lines of Defense" risk management model
that spans all activities of the Company. The Risk Management
function, along with the Compliance, Internal Financial Controls,
and CISO functions, forms the Company's second line of defense. The
Operational Risk Management (ORM) team is responsible for 2nd line
risk oversight of operational and IT risks across the enterprise.
We aim to be a partner for first line teams to promote sound risk
thinking and mitigate operational risk throughout the organization.
We work closely with many 1st line teams and 2nd line control
functions in identifying, monitoring, and mitigating operational,
IT, and information security risks.
ORM is an area that RM leadership has prioritized as an area to
strengthen in an effort for RM to shape the priorities for our
operations leaders. The Operational & IT Risk Manager will assist
the Director of Operational Risk with management of the Company's
Operational Risk program through executing a number of tasks
related to risk identification, quantification, monitoring, and
mitigation. This role offers the opportunity to:
Gain exposure to a variety of business areas, processes, and risk
topics across the organization
Deepen or gain an understanding of operational and IT risk and risk
evaluation frameworks
Support the strategic direction of the enterprise risk management
function through (a) helping to shape and drive the operational
risk program and (b) prudent review and oversight of enterprise
operational risks
Responsibilities include:
Partner with 1st and 2nd line teams to identify and mitigate
operational, IT, and information security related risks
Assist with maintenance and management of the Operational Risk
Register to provide transparency into the key operational risks
across the organization and enable effective monitoring and
mitigation where necessary Identify and evaluate risk controls
through the RCSA process and other control effectiveness evaluation
techniques
Qualitative and quantitative assessment of individual risks through
assignment risk ratings and calculation of economic risk
capital
Facilitate risk workshops to aid in the identification of risks
across the enterprise
Manage and facilitate the documentation of operational
incident(s)
Partner with the IT & Information Security Risk to assist with the
risk assessment, prioritization, and remediation efforts
Manage updates of operational risk-related program documentation
including but not limited to policies, procedures, workflows, and
reports
Assist with ad-hoc strategic operational risk projects and risk
reviews
Candidates for this position may be able to work remotely from a
home-based office.Skills required to ensure success include:

through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Process Management: Knowledge of business process improvement tools
and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or
enhance existing business or work processes.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree
3 years of experience working at an insurance or financial services
company in Business, Operations, or IT
Working knowledge of Equitable's commercial business lines and
product offerings
Understanding of insurance, financial, and IT risk management and
mitigation techniques
Understanding of risk controls, corporate governance, and
compliance
Knowledge of IT systems, networks, and Cloud Technology is a
plus
Diligent, pro-active, resourceful and results-oriented
Critical and analytical thinking and pragmatic problem solving
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Productivity Suite
Excellent oral and written communicator (in both prose and
PowerPoint presentation formats)
Inquisitive and eager to learn
Comfortable working on a variety of tasks
Able to work both independently and collaborate well with other
teams
