Our client is looking for a Network Technician with a proven track record in:


  • Racking and stacking of network devices
  • Cable patching
  • Physical layer troubleshooting
  • Equipment disposal activities
  • Installing and troubleshooting Cisco and Avaya IP phones

    This position will support facilities management, site security, and project engagement with a commitment and desire to satisfy our customers by completing all work at the highest level, always striving for perfection. The candidate must be motivated and self-driven for success.

    Position Details: -


    • Hourly salary based upon the level of experience & skill-set
    • -Long-term with possible extension(s) or temp to hire
    • Standard work hours: Mon-Fri 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (after hours & weekends as needed)
    • Type / Location: Mobile Worker: Charlotte, NC - - - -
    • MVR Check required
    • Candidates must have a valid Driver's License & a dependable vehicle that can transport a 6ft ladder
    • Travel Expectations: up to 4 hours radius of the target location


      Responsibilities:


      • The patching cabling between network equipment and the customer's network
      • The installation of power cables from equipment to the power supply in the rack/cabinet/closet
      • The installation, troubleshooting, and de-installing of network equipment

        • Install/swap out devices (e.g., phones, computers, cables, boards, edge routers, switches and etc.)
        • Install, troubleshoot, and de-install Network General remote Sniffers


        • Complete all hard and complex Move, Add Change (MAC) requests within the defined service levels
        • Act as interface between customer's associates and management
        • Provide hardware break-fix services for network infrastructure
        • Perform onsite call-through, data, voice, website, and security testing
        • Perform backup testing to ensure all systems are connected to the customer's network as directed
        • Support carrier testing of circuits
        • Assist with facilities efforts

          • Power and uninterruptable power supply (UPS) restoral
          • Water problems,
          • Emergency cooling restoration,
          • Fire suppression exercises, restoration, and post-fire events


          • Support inventory management activities

            • Receiving Inventory
            • Tagging of assets
            • Tracking spares (crash kits)
            • Ordering inventory
            • Updating inventory records
            • Prepare and return damaged equipment


            • Act as an interface, as needed, between associates at the applicable location and centralized project/operations / MAC management


              Requirements:


              • Must be proficient in utilizing technical tools such as Sniffers, BERT testers, cable testers, and fiber testers.
              • Requires experience in working in communications closets

                • Must be able to perform rack and stack activities
                • Must be able to safely lift heavy objects


                • Must understand cable patching processes and procedures
                • Must be familiar with 66 Block and 110 Block cross-connect procedures
                • Must have a basic knowledge of data communications networking.

                  • Must be able to assist in troubleshooting issues
                  • Must understand network terminology


                  • Must be familiar with IP phone
                  • Must be able to program Cisco phones
                  • Must be able to install Avaya phones
                  • Must be able to troubleshoot Avaya and Cisco phones

                    • Requires good interpersonal communications skills
                    • Must be able to explain technical issues in a way the customer will understand an issue
                    • Must be able to interpret a customer's issue in a way that will allow the technician to facilitate a resolution




                      Experience and Education:


                      • 2+ years of experience in data communications
                      • Must have a basic knowledge of Cisco Phones, switches, and routers
                      • Must have a basic knowledge of local and wide area networking.
                      • High school diploma or equivalent required. Prefer an Associates Degree in technical study
