Job Description:
Role and ResponsibilitiesThe traveling damper technicians
primary at-track responsibly is to communicate data-driven damping
recommendations as well as ensuring damper quality control and
managing inventory logistics. When at the shop, the responsibly
will be to assist with building and developing dampers or other
vehicle performance related initiatives.
- Communicate damping recommendations:
- Understand available damper options and pro/cons of each as
established through full vehicle simulation and/or physical
testing
- Interact with race engineer and driver to recommended damper
options
- Document and brief shop-based damper department personnel on
at-track issues and desired vehicle handling directions
- Damper dynoing:
- Execute tests via EMA, crank or hydraulic dyno
- Perform analysis on dyno results
- Maintain dynos
- Damper building/documenting:
- Assemble/disassemble and service dampers
- Maintain associated records
- Additional responsibilities may include:
- Data analysis of at-track damper testing
- Damper support at 7-Post test events
- Mechanical assembly, development and/or testing of other
non-damper vehicle sub-componentsQualifications and Education
RequirementsThe damper technician will be organized, self-motivated
and able to work with minimum supervision. A strong inter-personal
communication skillset is required along with an exceptional team
mentality.
- Mechanical proficiency
- Prior experience building and dynoing dampers
- Proficient in computer software (Microsoft Suite)
- Basic knowledge of vehicle dynamics
- Matlab, Pi Toolbox, Roehrig, and Servotest Pulsar software
