Job Description:

Responsible for the creation, development and execution of artwork that achieve Belk Private Brand's objectives, and overall product strategy. Participate in research and development of seasonal trends and ensure that designs meet merchant line plans, assortment strategies, price points, and overall creative direction for each brand, age group, and gender.

Job Functions
Strong fashion sense and ability to translate merchant/market input into highly sell-able product.
Create and present cohesive textile/graphic design concepts to Textile Designer, Apparel Design, Product Management, Merchant Teams, and Vendor partners that is brand, gender and age specific for each season. This includes boards, tear sheets and samples.
Create artwork (prints, embroideries, graphics) in Adobe suite for new private brand styles.
Apply understanding of design process and Private Brands/Merchant's business objectives to ensure consistency and drive financial results.
Collaborate with Apparel Design, Sourcing, Merchandising, Technical Design/QA, and Vendors to achieve product execution and maintain design integrity.
Maintain vendor communication on submit comments for art and color
Evaluate all meeting and production samples with extended Private Brand team.
Create and adhere to seasonal time/action calendar.
Participate as a member of Private Brand team for continual improvement of product

Position Contribution Level :
Entry Level

Minimum Education & Experience:
Bachelors degree and/or equivalent years of experience
Specific Degree: in Textile/Surface Design or closely related focus
0-3 years of applicable experience

Preferred Education & Experience:
Experience with Kaledo software and large format Epson printers preferred

Knowledge & Skills
Demonstrates creative ability
Must have experience with the Adobe CC Suite (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator & Bridge)
Proven textile design experience in a given category
Knowledge of print development techniques and printing technology currently used throughout the industry. Must be able to translate these to various types of textiles.
Must have strong working knowledge of knit and woven textiles as they pertain to the textile design process
Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
Must be highly adaptable and a great problem solver
Ability to adhere to tight deadlines
Ability to research and apply market/trend information
Good communication skills, organized, and strong attention to detail
Ability to improve skill set by listening and responding to constructive critique.
