About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Principal Engineer for the Personal
Lending and Retail Services group in Consumer Lending
Technology
In this role, you will:
- Act as an advisor to leadership to develop or influence
applications, network, information security, database, operating
systems, or web technologies for highly complex business and
technical needs across multiple groups
- Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex and unique
challenges requiring in-depth evaluation across multiple areas or
the enterprise, delivering solutions that are long-term,
large-scale and require vision, creativity, innovation, advanced
analytical and inductive thinking
- Translate advanced technology experience, an in-depth knowledge
of the organizations tactical and strategic business objectives,
the enterprise technological environment, the organization
structure, and strategic technological opportunities and
requirements into technical engineering solutions
- Provide vision, direction and expertise to leadership on
implementing innovative and significant business solutions
- Maintain knowledge of industry best practices and new
technologies and recommends innovations that enhance operations or
provide a competitive advantage to the organization
- Strategically engage with all levels of professionals and
managers across the enterprise and serve as an expert advisor to
leadership
- Model our core values and be a mentor, coach and advisor to
other engineers to build modern applications with sound engineering
principles.
- Continuously inspect and improve teams' ability to deliver
quality solutions through evolving our engineering process and
technical capabilities.
- Collaborate with architecture and platform engineering teams to
define, architect and spec highly scalable and reliable solutions
for cloud scale workloads.
- Work with engineering managers to develop and publish
meaningful metrics related to API usage.
- Work with product managers to help prioritize product backlog
in a manner that increases ability to deliver high value features
with increasing frequency and least amount of complexity.
- Remain current in the latest security technologies,
methodologies, and best practices, especially as it relates to
software engineering in a cloud/micro-services environment.
Required Qualifications:
- 7+ years of Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated
through one or a combination of the following: work experience,
training, military experience, education
- 7+ years of Java Experience
- 3+ years developing microservices Desired Qualifications:
- Experience managing complex partner engagement and leading
engineering collaboration
- Strong problem solving, advanced design, and development
skills.
- Strong learning ability, strong self-drive, good adaptability
and passion for security.
- Comfortable leading conversations with both engineers and
senior executives.
- Experience in Engineering, or equivalent demonstrated through
one or a combination of the following: work experience, training,
military experience, education
- BA in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent industry
experience
- 7+ years of professional experience designing and developing
software solutions to improve System Reliability, Availability and
Serviceability.
- Strong technical communication skills (verbal and written) to
interface with cross-functional technical teams within and/or
outside of the organization.
- Experienced in leading debugging complex system level issues
and providing recommendations on potential fixes/tradeoffs to meet
the business needs.
