Position Title: Assistant Foreman - Industrial Equipment
SettingLocation: Charlotte, NCSalary Interval: Salaried, Non
ExemptPosition DescriptionPOSITION SUMMARYThe Assistant Foreman
must work safely and productively on various sized equipment
installation, rigging and steel erection project sites. A
successful candidate in this role must be highly motivated and
willing to complete any task assigned, along with performing the
essential duties of the Foreman position when Forman is not
available. All employees are expected to communicate, always build
relationships with other team members and use good judgment. The
Assistant Foreman is expected to have the ability to perform all
duties of the positions preceding it in its specific career path,
while being responsible and accountable to complete any other tasks
assigned.WILL ASSIST IN ESSENTIAL DUTIESFabricates metal parts,
such as steel frames, columns, beams, or girders, according to
blueprints or instructions from supervisors.Unloads and positions
prefabricated steel units for hoisting as needed.Hoists steel
beams, girders, or columns into place, using cranes or signaling
hoisting equipment operators to lift and position structural steel
members.Verifies vertical and horizontal alignment of structural
steel members, using plumb bobs, laser equipment, transits, or
levels.Cuts, bends, or welds steel pieces, using metal shears,
torches, or welding equipment.Forces structural steel members into
final positions, using turnbuckles, crowbars, jacks, or hand
tools.Pulls, pushes, or pries structural steel members into
approximate positions for bolting into place.Bolts aligned
structural-steel members in position for permanent riveting,
bolting, or welding into place.Assembles hoisting equipment or
rigging, such as cables, pulleys, or hooks, to move heavy equipment
or materials.Dismantles structures or equipment.Perform all
assigned roles, responsibilities, and related work processes /
tasks in the safest possible manner. Ensure that a safe,
accident/incident- free work environment is maintained for all
co-workers, customers, clients, suppliers, etc. at all timesSignal
or verbally direct workers engaged in hoisting and moving loads, in
order to ensure safety of workers and materials.Test rigging to
ensure safety and reliability.Attach loads to rigging to provide
support or prepare them for moving, using hand and power
tools.Select gear such as slings, shackles, chokers, and winches,
according to load weights and sizes, facilities, and work
schedules.Control movement of heavy equipment through narrow
openings or confined spaces, using chain falls, gin poles, gallows
frames, and other equipment.Tilt, dip, and turn suspended loads to
maneuver over, under, and/or around obstacles, using multi-point
suspension techniques.Manipulate rigging lines, hoists, and pulling
gear to move or support materials such as heavy equipment.Clean and
dress machine surfaces and component parts.OTHER
RESPONSIBILITIESMay take on responsibilities of the Forman when
absent or unavailable.May train or supervise others in job
duties.May perform a variety of duties including those of other
positions.PM20Position RequirementsEducation and/or ExperienceMust
have 4 years of experience as a JourneymanReinforced Ironworker,
Rigger or Millwright. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities RequiredReads
specifications or blueprints to determine the locations,
quantities, or sizes of material required.Directs and supervises
the work of a crew of one or more trades.Inspects work for
compliance with company quality standards. Requires poor work to be
corrected immediately to minimize issues.Participates in hands-on
work to complete the job.Takes personal responsibility for
fostering a safe workplace by following safety policies and
procedures.Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning toidentify
the strengths and weaknesses of Management of Material Resources -
Obtaining andseeing to the appropriate use of equipment,facilities,
and materials needed to do certain work.Working ConditionsMust be
able to work in all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold
and wind) while wearing appropriate PPE. Will work at heights,
climb ladders and stairways, and may occasionally work on
platforms/scaffolding using the appropriate fall protection
requirements. Certificates, Licenses, RegistrationsValid Driver's
License - PreferredOSHA 10 and 30-Hour Certification - Required;
training provided by Wayne BrothersNCCER Ironworker/Rigger -
Preferred Physical DemandsEmployee will be required to adhere to
large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting and
lifting. Will use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push,
and pull objects, materials, controls and tools. May be required to
pick up, lift, carry and move up to 50lbs. Must be able to work in
all weather conditions (including heat, rain, cold and wind) while
wearing appropriate PPE. Will be required to wear personal
protective equipment (PPE) including but not limited to hard hat,
safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety
vests, leather gloves and leather steel-toed work boots.Equal
