Job Description:

JOB SUMMARYThe BI Administrator I will be responsible for administering, supporting, governing and maintaining multiple MicroStrategy environments in Charter Business Intelligence group. This role must have an advanced level understanding of MicroStrategy architecture and the entire MicroStrategy product suite, administration policies, techniques and methodologies. This is a multitasking role and the individual is expected to support multiple BI development and operations teams as well as a large and diverse MicroStrategy user community.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESInstall, configure, manage and execute upgrades of MicroStrategy 10+ environment including major/minor/patch releases on Linux, Sun Solaris and Windows platformsServe as a technical support contact for MicroStrategyWork with MicroStrategy support to resolve issues requiring vendor assistanceAssist in the governing of the MicroStrategy environment; have an advanced level understanding of how to optimize the environment via governing settings, VLDB setting, and other mechanismProactively monitor and maintain the stability of the environment by leveraging MicroStrategy monitoring tools, Enterprise Manager Reports, and system monitoring tools such as SolarWinds and HP OpenViewPerform user administration, including creation of users and groups, removing inactive users, and conducting license audits to ensure adherence to licensing requirementsUnderstand how to develop automated mechanisms for deploying MicroStrategy projects and configuration changes across the various environmentsImplement MicroStrategy Intelligent Cube creation, management and automationSupport development teams for package, object and code migrations across environmentsDeploy and troubleshoot web and mobile customizations developed in MicroStrategy SDKDevelop and maintain technical documentation for MicroStrategy environment configuration, development and administration guidelines/standards, support issues and maintenanceMaintain onboarding documents and provide onboarding/coaching for new BI employees and contractorsProvide regular status reports to managementPerform other duties as requested by supervisorREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSSkills/Abilities and KnowledgeAbility to read, write, speak and understand EnglishKnowledge of IT infrastructure such as servers and storage systems, operating systems, virtualization platforms, and disaster recovery toolsKnowledge of MicroStrategy architecture and all components of the MicroStrategy product suite, including MicroStrategy Architect, MicroStrategy Developer, Enterprise Manager, Cube Advisor, Integrity Manager, Object Manager, System Manager, SDK, Distribution Services, Transactional Services, Visual Insight, and MicroStrategy MobileFamiliarity with data warehousing concepts and techniques such as dimensional modeling, star schemas, SQL language and SQL tuningStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to communicate orally and in writingAbility to work in collaboration with other team membersProactive and focused on results and success; conveys a sense of urgency and drives issues to closureTeam player, flexible, hardworking, self-motivated and have a positive outlook with the ability to take on difficult initiatives and challengesProficient in MicroStrategy administration on Linux and Solaris platforms and writing shell scripts for automation needsEducationBachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Information Technology or related field, or equivalent experienceRelated Work Experience Number of YearsIT experience in the areas of Data Warehousing and Business Intelligence 5+MicroStrategy administration, including installation, configuration,monitoring and upgrades in large-scale enterprise environments 2+Experience in using MicroStrategy integrity manager and creatingautomated reusable templates/components to enable automaticvalidation after code migration, version upgrade 1+Experience in using MicroStrategy command manager to automateadministrative, configuration tasks 1+Proficient in managing MicroStrategy I-server and web server clusters onphysical hardware and virtual machinesTeradata and/or Netezza database experience 1+PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSSkills/Abilities and KnowledgeMicroStrategy 10 Certified Application Administrator, MicroStrategy 10 Certified Application Engineer or MCE / MCEP certifications are big plusExperience in cable or another telecommunications service provider is a plus.WORKING CONDITIONSOffice environment Occasional travel to other Charter office BBL351 299255 299255BR
