SUMMARY

The Credit Analyst position works directly with the Portfolio Management Loss Deal Team in analyzing, underwriting and monitoring all credit facilities within the portfolio management loss team.
The Credit Analyst is an excellent position in banking that can pave the way to numerous other positions within First Horizon including sales, credit, relationship management or other similar positions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with the Portfolio Manager (PM) and Relationship Manager (RM) in completing the credit analysis.  The credit analysis is Commercial Banking's primary document for analyzing and underwriting all new and outstanding loans and leases.  The credit analysis performs an in-depth analysis on the borrower's ability to repay focusing on the company and owner's background, recent and historical financial performance, guarantor's (if applicable) financial condition, and several other factors related to First Horizon's underwriting policies and guidelines.
  • Enter borrower’s financial statements into spreadsheet software to facilitate underwriting. Works to obtain industry information on borrowers’ industries to assist in identification of risks to borrowing companies.  Will have primary responsibility for managing compliance reporting pipeline for the portfolio.
  • Support the PM and RM team in managing the client relationship as needed.  The Credit Analyst will sit in on credit meetings as needed and join the RM on client calls on occasion.
  • Will be exposed to and expected to attain a working knowledge of multiple industries including, but not limited to, transportation (trucking, marine, air, rail), manufacturing, leasing/rental, food production, medical, renewable energy (wind/solar), power & utilities, communications, construction and retail.
  • Support Operations with transaction review and booking review as well as follow up for compliance items.  This position will learn fundamentals of legal documentation for loans and leases as well as the relevant accounting and tax implications.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Additionally, the qualifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required in this position:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Finance or Accounting major preferred. 
  • At a minimum, the candidate should have exposure to finance and accounting through completed college courses or relevant work experience. 
  • 2-4 years of experience preferred.
  • Accurate typing, spelling and grammar skills
  • Proficient with applicable computer software / Excel financial modeling
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good organizational and customer service skills
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic and ability work outside of normal business hours when needed
