SUMMARY

Trane in Charlotte, NC is hiring an Area Contracting Manager for our Turnkey Installation Team.This position is responsible for a portion of the Contracting stream’s project backlog within Charlotte assigned market.  The ACM manages all aspects of assigned projects, with direct responsibility for project execution and targeted profitability. The Area Contracting Manager leads a team to accomplish specific objectives in a given period and with available resources and reports directly to the Regional Turnkey Operations Leader.  

 

SCOPE / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other functions may be assigned.

This position is responsible for $5M to $8M in Contracting Revenue.

  • Plays a key role in delivering Contracting profitability for the region and achieving specific AOP priorities.
  • Studies financial reports to look for areas of improvement and growth.
  • Supports sales team in the discovery and development of new opportunities.  
  • Responsible for conducting employee reviews and ensuring performance objectives are met.
  • Supports the Regional Contracting Manager and Area General Manager in delivering business results and sharing department vision. 
  • Directly leads and supervises assigned Contracting fulfillment personnel. 
  • Maintains customer satisfaction by investigating concerns, implementing corrective action, and communicating with customers and assigned staff. 
  • “Owns the Business” by taking action to support the team and all aspects of managing the business.
  • Establishes relationships in the market to recruit talent into the organization.
  • Works closely with other business leaders (Service and Controls) to ensure a positive working culture amongst respective teams.
  • Reviews and validates contracts and estimates by performing risk analysis and developing risk plans.
  • Confirms Trane’s ability to meet a project’s expected performance and financial requirements by obtaining and analyzing customer data, project data, and implementation issues prior to accepting the project.
  • Leads the team as a safety professional to establish and maintain a work culture that makes safety priority #1.
    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local regulations.
    • Ensures that assigned fulfillment personnel follow all Company EH&S guidelines and policies.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Directly supervises up to five back office employees in the contracting department.  Supervises between five and fifteen technicians. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; praising performance; employee development; addressing complaints, coaching and mentoring employees; and resolving problems. 

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college with concentrations in Business, Construction Management, or Engineering.
  • At least Three (3) to Five (5) years of related experience in leading teams and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Working knowledge of industrial and commercial refrigeration systems, energy management systems, construction, and/or HVAC Systems strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated record of accomplishment in customer facing roles such as Sales or Project Management.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 12 months, with no major or frequent traffic violations including, but not limited to:
    • DUI in the previous 5 years.
    • Hit& Run, License Suspension, Reckless / Careless Driving or multiple smaller infractions or preventable collisions in the previous 3 years
  • Computer Skills Proficiency Required (Knowledge of office equipment and Microsoft Office products)
  • Ability to learn new computer systems and software as required.
  • Contracting Licenses a plus.
