The Commercial Banking Finance Team directly supports the
Commercial Banking businesses and staff support functions
Middle Market Banking – Provides the complete range of
commercial banking productions for the Company’s middle market,
business banking and Government and other specialty customers
Wells Fargo Commercial Capital – Includes a collection of
largely asset-based lending businesses including Secured Lending
and Leasing, Distribution Finance, Global Receivables and Trade
Finance, Specialty Finance, Strategic Capital and Renewable Energy
& Environmental Finance.
Treasury Management and Payment Services – Provides Treasury
Management and Payment Services products across the Company, with
primary focus on Commercial Banking and CIB customers.
CB Chief Admin Officer – Provides centralized Administrative
support across the platform including Strategy,
CB Chief Operations Officer – Provides centralized Operations
support across Commercial Banking
Commercial Banking Control – Performs first-line of defense
Control and Governance activities across Commercial Banking
The teams are responsible for:
Supporting LOB leadership from a finance perspective, including
providing consultative financial support and business analytics to
enable business strategy, activities and initiatives;
Ownership and analysis of financial projections, actual
period-end results, and other required LOB financial
Governance and oversight over the LOB’s management and legal
Risk management and stewardship of sound financial and
operational internal controls and processes;
Financial oversight of product pricing, customer profitability,
Investor Relations support materials and any significant
in-business financial analysis used to support business decision
Cost and expense management, including financial oversight of
project investments, compensation models and Efficiency &
Effectiveness program reporting
Establishing strong partnerships with Enterprise Finance COE’s
and other business partners, including Controllers, Treasury, Risk,
HR, Legal, etc.;
Maintaining a team characterized by deep functional and
technical subject matter expertise, and a team culture consistent
with the Company’s Vision and Values.
The Commercial Banking FP&A Leader will report to the
Commercial Banking CFO, Joe Kauder (Interim), and be responsible
for leading an experienced team of finance professionals providing
centralized FP&A support to the Commercial Banking CEO,
Businesses and Staff Functions. In addition, this individual will
be expected to take a leadership position in working with the
Enterprise Finance FP&A Team to help plan, coordinate and
optimize the FP&A support across the Company.
The executive will lead the Commercial Banking FP&A Team
Deliver world class service and execute on all required
deliverables and objectives.
Develop and enhance business and product analytics and metrics
to support business strategies and decision making to drive
improved financial outcomes
Lead the Commercial Banking Planning and Forecasting process,
including the completion of the Annual Financial Plan, the
quarterly nine-quarter forecast updates, and the monthly estimates.
Partner with forecasting COEs as necessary to optimize the
forecasting process and drive improved outcomes.
Lead the Commercial Banking CCAR and Resolution Planning
process, including all necessary incremental scenario forecasting,
Risk Assessments, Resolution plans, and other deliverables as
Lead the Commercial Banking Management Reporting process,
including leading the monthly, quarterly and annual close
processes. Coordinate changes to the CB Management Reporting
hierarchy, required adjustments, necessary accruals and error
Lead the preparation of the monthly CEO Business Review
materials and any other standard business reporting deliverables
across Commercial Banking. Also lead the coordination and
preparation of ad hoc business reporting as necessary.
Lead the preparation of the Commercial Banking Quarterly
Earnings materials and any other ad hoc Investor relations
Provide financial advice and guidance for the LOB’s strategic
plan as well as other long-range line of business level plans.
Build relationships and partner closely with Commercial Banking
senior leaders and other Corporate Finance and other Staff Group
senior leaders and partners as necessary to drive results and
execute on deliverables.
Coordinate miscellaneous other deliverables as necessary,
including model governance, Issue Management, BCP Planning,
Work with Auditors and Regulators as necessary.
Outstanding leadership skills and the proven ability to foster a
culture of strong consultation, sound controls, and continuous
improvement will be determining factors in selection. This
executive will be recognized for accomplishments related to hiring,
retaining, and developing a diverse, world-class team. Successful
candidates will be articulate and possess a demonstrated leadership
capability; they will have strong inter-personal effectiveness. A
key differentiator will be the ability to understand and operate
successfully in a complex, heavily matrixed environment. The role
requires a sense of urgency, passion for results, and personal
accountability for achievement. Successful candidates will also
have proven record of successfully building and leading teams
through change in difficult environments. Finally, successful
candidates will have financial experience working with commercial
banking transactions, business operations and risk and balance
sheet management issues.
Locations: San Francisco, CA or Charlotte, NC preferred. Other

8+ years of management experience
12+ years of experience in one or a combination of the
following: finance, accounting, treasury, analytics, reporting
Other Desired Qualifications
7+ years of experience as a senior finance and/or accounting
leader working in a large bank environment.
3+ years managing a team of managers ideally including
commercial banking teams.
Experience in developing financial projections and establishing
Experience with cost benefit analysis on
Strong knowledge of financial products as well as the
connections between the balance sheet, non-interest income, the
underlying business drivers and revenue composition.
