Job Summary

Barings is looking for an experienced Chief Risk Officer (CRO) that will be responsible to oversee the firm’s global risk management operations, including managing, identifying, evaluating, reporting and overseeing the firm's risks externally and internally to the organization. The CRO role is a key member of the firm’s senior management team, reporting to the Chief Legal Officer (CLO) and will work closely with Barings senior management.

Primary Responsibilities

Enhance and implement a comprehensive enterprise risk management strategy focusing on both investment and operational risk factors

Identify and mitigate procedural issues within the organization that may create exposure to a threat or liability

Assess and enhance internal controls and reporting procedures, in line with investment compliance and regulatory requirements

Develop, implement and maintain all risk management activities appropriate for a global asset management firm

Develop and maintain written risk management policies appropriate for a global asset management firm.

Keep up-to-date with Industry Standards incorporating these into the Firm's Risk Framework where relevant

Present to senior management and Barings Board of Directors regarding risks and other issues

Qualifications

BA required; advanced degree preferred

Minimum 15 years of comprehensive and progressive experience in risk management within the financial services or asset management industries

Financial Industry Risk Management professional certification required

Previous experience executing global risk management operations as well as the implementation and managing of Enterprise and Investment Risk Management strategy

Executive-level leadership experience in results-driven environment

Proven leader with ability to develop next-generation talent

Team-driven orientation with ability to collaborate effectively with peers

Excellent interpersonal and public speaking skills

Strong aptitude in decision making and problem solving

Proven ability to influence thinking and apply complicated strategies

Demonstrated resourcefulness in setting priorities and guiding people and systems
