We're looking for a candidate to fill this position in an
Departmental Leadership: Responsible for the effective
functioning of the department, including supervising and developing
Development Operations team members to manage and drive high
quality and efficient development operations. Collaborates with
organizational leaders from other departments to identify and
respond to funding needs and craft opportunities. Works closely
with the finance department to reach alignment on projections and
income secured. Works with the COO to roll out a robust planned
giving initiative with systematic stewardship efforts built in.
Responsible for management of the overall department budget,
monthly income goals check-ins, and larger team convenings.
Grant Writing and Management: Serves as the lead in both writing
and managing the team (including external consultants) to both
write and manage all aspects of grants (~400 grant submissions
annually). Continuously monitors and enhances internal grantwriting
related systems, organizational metrics and language to increase
quality and competitiveness of grants and reports. Works with the
Finance Team to generate financial reports and accurate budgets for
grant proposals and reports, ensures compliance with grant terms
and restrictions. Independently communicates with foundation
professionals to submit proposals and field questions.
Income Processing and Management: Manages team members running
the gift processing systems to ensure timely and accurate
completion and prompt and positive communication with donors.
Salesforce Strategy and Implementation: Utilizes the
organization’s donor management system (Salesforce) to measure and
monitor fundraising and projections, identify, cultivate and manage
important relationships, manage grant lifecycles, play a key role
in multiple annual campaigns and maximize donor communication and
stewardship. Provides oversight of the staff responsible for
maintaining and growing the database to develop internal reporting
systems, create and update various reliable financial reports,
maintain excellent historical records, manage the tracking of
grants, and create and maintain various reliable financial reports.
Develops a plan to integrate systems for ongoing prospect research
and for analyzing data to further track philanthropic trends
Minimum 5 years of demonstrated success and senior level
responsibility, including 2+ years of direct supervisory
experience, in nonprofit organizations.
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a related field; MBA
or other relevant advanced degree preferred. Additional 4 years of
related work experience may be substituted for the degree.
Superior project management skills, including the ability to
diplomatically coordinate activities of others, impose and manage
timelines, and provide excellent overall coordination to meet
Exemplary written and verbal communication and presentation
skills, with emphasis on proposal writing and editing, and
communication with donors.
Ability to write highly competitive proposals in a fast-paced
environment in a variety of styles ranging from the highly
technical to personal.
Proven success at planning and executing on department and
organizational goals through leading and managing a team of
