This and other rn jobs brought to you by NursingJobCafe.com JOB SUMMARY The Clinical Nurse I provides professional nursing care through skillful assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation in accordance with hospital policies and procedures under the supervision of the Nurse Manager. The Clinical Nurse I will assist in maintaining a safe work environment and performs all related job responsibilities in a safe manner. The Clinical Nurse I maintains clinical and professional competency as appropriate to the age, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patients served. A registered nurse's practice is guided by the ANA Code of Ethics for Nurses with Interpretive Statements.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS --- Collects data pertinent to the healthcare consumer's health or the situation. --- Analyzes the assessment data to determine the diagnoses or issues. --- Identifies expected outcomes for a plan individualized to the healthcare consumer or the situation. --- Develops a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes. --- Implements the identified plan, coordinates care delivery, and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment. --- Evaluates progress toward attainment of outcomes. --- Practices ethically. --- Delegates elements of care to appropriate healthcare workers in accordance with any applicable legal or policy parameters or principles. --- Attains knowledge and competence that reflects current nursing practice. --- Promotes shared governance, or facility decision making activities, developing and nurturing research to positively affect clinical outcomes and promotion. --- Integrates evidence and research findings into practice. --- Contributes to quality nursing practice. --- Communicates effectively in a variety of formats in all areas of practice. --- Demonstrates leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession. --- Collaborates with healthcare consumer, family, and others in the conduct of nursing practice. --- Evaluates her or his own nursing practice in relation to professional practice standards and guidelines, relevant statutes, rules and regulations. --- Utilizes appropriate resources to plan and provide nursing services that are safe, effective, and financially responsible. --- Practices in an environmentally safe and healthy manner. --- Participates in committees, shared governance, or other decision making activities. --- Models the mission, vision, values, Standards of Excellence and goals of the Carolinas Healthcare System. --- Supports and contributes to the Patient Centered Care Philosophy by understanding that every staff member is a Caregiver whose role is to meet the needs of the patient. 1. Performs detailed, full body assessment within one hour of admission, at beginning of shift, and documents per policy. 2. Maintains annual competency on the following critical care components: arterial, pulmonary artery, and central line management; intra aortic balloon pumping, hemodynamic monitoring, advanced rhythm interpretation, ventilator alarm management, and temporary pacemakers. 3. Maintains annual competency on all monitoring equipment, ensures that monitor alarms are individualized per patient, that alarms are functioning, and sufficiently audible. 4. Responds to facility Code Blue and Rapid Response Team calls on adult patients utilizing ACLS protocol and hospital policy. 5. Performs all critical care bundles (ventilator-associated pneumonia, central line insertion, catheter-associated urinary tract infection) according to policy and evidence based practice. 6. Assists with intubation and performs endotracheal suctioning as needed. 7. Assists physician to perform all bedside procedures in a sterile environment as required, ensures patient safety throughout the procedure, and documents per policy. 8. Participates in and ensures completion of verification of procedure and timeout prior to every invasive procedure performed in the ICU. 9. Demonstrates clinical understanding, titration, and appropriate use of vasoactive, inotropic, paralytic, and sedation medications used in the ICU. 10. Maintains current CPR and ACLS certification. Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse or temporary license as a Registered Nurse Petitioner in the state of North Carolina or compact state as appropriate. Complies with the Clinical Nurse I requirements of the Professional Nurse Clinical Advancement Program. Experience as outlined in Professional Nurse Clinical Advancement Program. Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider status according to American Heart Association.
