and ECMO devices EPIC experience Ability to float to Pediatric
Intensive Care Unit discussed during interview Description: This
position is for an RN in a Pediatric Cardiovascular Intensive Care
Unit. The unit has a capacity of 20 beds, divided into two sides
with 10 beds each. Nurses are stationed centrally, with the most
critical patients placed behind the nurses' station. The patient
population includes high acuity patients aged 0-18 years old.
Common diagnoses include patients with congenital heart differences
that have undergone surgery, medical management pre-transplant and
post-transplant, and those who have undergone catheterization.
Nurse-to-patient ratios vary based on acuity, with assignments of
1:1, 1:2, or 2:1. There is no CNA; however, one Healthcare Tech
supports unit secretary duties and nursing needs during the shift.
Each shift includes a unit secretary and a charge nurse. Phlebotomy
services are available in-house but are mainly utilized for
patients with central lines. An IV/VAT team is also present. The
department is supported 24/7 by Respiratory Therapists,
Cardiologists, and Intensivists. Telemetry monitoring is
centralized, while bedside monitoring is utilized as needed.
Floating to Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, Neonatal Intensive Care
Unit, and General Pediatrics might be required. Weekend rotation is
expected, typically every other weekend. Travelers will work 75% of
holidays as per unit requirements. Requests for time off require
manager approval. The unit culture emphasizes teamwork, trust, and
accountability. Scrub color is navy. Free parking is available.
