qualifications will not be considered. An opportunity is available
for an experienced RN to provide skilled nursing care on a
Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Charlotte, NC, supporting adult
patients with various medical conditions. This contract position
offers exposure to a new state-of-the-art unit scheduled to open in
early 2026 with growth potential. The role requires a confident
clinician ready to manage complex patients and adaptable to
floating within the region. Location: The position is based at a
balanced-care medical center located in Cornelius, just outside
Charlotte, NC. This region combines urban amenities with suburban
community living, offering an enriching environment for both work
and lifestyle. Residents enjoy access to local parks, cultural
events, and convenient transport links to the citys healthcare
network. Key Responsibilities: - Deliver comprehensive nursing care
to adult PCU patients with diagnoses including CHF, COPD, DKA,
sepsis, GI bleeds, dialysis, and insulin drips. - Execute advanced
nursing skills such as IV starts, wound care including vacs and
drains, central line management, NG tube insertions, tube feeds,
and titration of critical drips (Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro,
heparin, insulin). - Monitor cardiac rhythms and manage PCA and
kangaroo pumps. - Draw labs independently due to absence of
phlebotomy support. - Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
including RTs and hospitalists. - Utilize EPIC electronic medical
records effectively for documentation and care coordination. -
Float within scope across facilities in the region as needed,
maintaining a 1:4 patient ratio. Qualifications / Desired
Experience: - Current RN licensure in good standing. - Minimum two
years of PCU nursing experience required; first-time travelers
considered with over five years of PCU expertise. - BLS, ACLS, and
NIHSS certifications required. - Competency or willingness to learn
ventilator care and Precedex drip management. - Proficiency with
EPIC EMR system mandatory. - Comfortable with complex clinical
skills including advanced wound care, central line management, and
titration of critical drips. Schedule / Hours: - 12-hour shifts,
either 7:00 AM7:00 PM or 7:00 PM7:00 AM. - Weekend rotation
averaging six shifts every six weeks; potential for additional
weekend shifts. - Holiday coverage expected approximately 75% of
holidays in contract. - Self-scheduling with managerial approval.
Additional Details: - Navy blue scrubs required. - Free parking
onsite. - Orientation includes 1-2 shifts on the unit tailored to
comfort level. - No phlebotomy or wound care RN support on the
unit, so proficiency crucial. - No tele monitoring; nurses
independently monitor assigned patients using bedside monitors. -
Floating within regional facilities is mandatory, with travel time
