to find a qualified Neuro RN in Winston Salem, North Carolina,
27103! Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty:
Medical Surgical - Neuro Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per
Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience with at
least 1 year of direct Medical Surgical experience. License:
Active, unrestricted nursing license required. Certifications:
BCLS, NIH, NIHSS, ACLS (preferred, not required). Must-Have:
Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical experience; unit will not accept
first-time travelers. Description: Cross posting for RTO after
booking is not allowed and is not allowed to be worked out onsite.
Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could possibly turn
into a cancellation and DNR. Unit will not accept first-time
travelers; must have at least 2 successful contracts before
applying. Locals accepted with rate difference. Skills required
include IV start, telemetry, interpretation and management of
dysrhythmias, and Medical Surgical neuro experience. Patient
diagnoses primarily include stroke patients but also encompass
various neurosurgery patients and other neuro diagnoses such as
epilepsy, traumatic and non-traumatic subdural hematomas, and more.
The unit has a 4-bed epilepsy monitoring unit (EMU). Daily census
is approximately 42 patients. Unit may require floating to other
Medical Surgical and telemetry areas, including COVID care units.
Travelers are required to work every other weekend. If RTO includes
weekends, that time will be added to the end of the contract to
make up for those dates. Frequent floating may be required. The
unit primarily cares for patients with neuroscience diagnoses, such
as strokes, seizures, subdural hematomas, SAH, ICH, and brain
tumors. Additional responsibilities may include blood product
administration, central line care, and management of cardiac and
vasoactive drips. Unit operates under a patient ratio of 1:6.
Candidates must be comfortable floating within the facility or to
nearby facilities as needed. The unit has a staffing requirement of
every other weekend. RTO requests of 7 days or less are
auto-approved if they do not coincide with holidays. Candidates
must work 2 out of 3 major holidays. No RTO is allowed during the
first week of a traveler's assignment due to orientation.
Candidates must pass EKG testing prior to start. Documentation of
two manager or supervisor references from within the past 12 months
is required at the time of start. Candidates must be adaptable to
floating based on unit needs and must comply with fatigue policies.
