PRN Summary: The nuclear medicine technologist provides information
about both structure and function with every major organ within the
body by the injection of radioactive materials. Under general
supervision, performs prescribed radiologic procedures requiring
specialized knowledge and skills in support of the provision of
diagnostic and/or therapeutic services to a specified patient
population. May prepare and administer various radioactive chemical
mixtures as appropriate to the nature of the procedures being
carried out. (This is a PRN position likely filling needs 1 day per
week, preferably Mondays 8 am to 5 pm) Essential Job
Responsibilities: Prepares and administers radioactive chemical
compounds, known as radiopharmaceuticals. Injects reversal agents
(theophylline) to the patients. Starts patient IV's. Perform
patient imaging procedures using radiation detecting
instrumentation. Accomplish computer processing and imaging
enhancement. Provides images, data analysis, and patient
information to the physician for diagnostic interpretation.
Prepares facilities in accordance with procedural requirements;
calibrates equipment as required by the institution. Calculate,
measure and record radiation dosage or radiopharmaceuticals
received, used and disposed, using computer and following
physician’s prescription. Prepares patient for radiographic/nuclear
medicine procedures as appropriate to requirements; explains
procedures to patients and positions patients as appropriate to
prescribed procedure; assists patients at end of procedure.
Monitors the patient’s physical condition during the course of the
procedure. Monitoring the departments daily, monthly, and quarterly
QC under the guidelines of the NRC. Maintains stock supplies and
assists administrators in determining quantities for purchase;
performs general office duties such as delivering and retrieving
film, recording procedure codes for billing purposes, typing forms,
and scheduling patients. Ensures proper care in the use and
maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous
improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
Monitors flow and productivity in the department and has the
capabilities to recommend improved processes. Prepare patient for
stress test. Work at different Tryon office locations as needed.
Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Education and
Certifications: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent. Graduate
of accredited Nuclear Medicine Program and registered with the
American Registry of Radiological Technology (ARRT) or the Nuclear
Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB). Current state
certification. Maintenance of current American Heart Association or
American Red Cross BLS certifications for HealthCare workers.
Completion of Hepatitis B Vaccine and Flu Vaccine Form will be
required. Candidate may decline vaccination through declination
form or may provide record of vaccination from previous employer.
Completion of TB test will be required. Experience: 2 years of
experience in healthcare services Physical Requirements: Work
consistently requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting,
reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to
lift and support weight of 35 pounds. Ability to concentrate on
