Experience: 2 years of acute care Pediatrics experience; ambulatory
clinic experience preferred but not required License: RN License
Certifications: BLS, ACLS Must-Have: Experience in Pediatrics
Nephrology, including skills such as spinning down urine and
plating on slides, rapid strep testing, flu/COVID testing, and EPIC
experience is highly preferred. Ability to perform port access, CVL
draws, and rooming of patients. General assessment skills and the
ability to assist with RX refill using standing orders. Willingness
to assist with giving vaccines and injectable medications, as well
as biologic injectables, if interested in learning. Description:
Travelers will work in one of two specialty areas, based on job
posting. The Peds Nephrology department has 15 exam rooms and sees
up to 25 patients per day. Patient types include those with
constipation, reflux, G-tube care, IBD, Crohn's disease, colitis,
motility disorders, and TPN-dependent patients. Also included are
liver patients pre/post liver transplant, fatty liver disease,
pre/post kidney transplant, chronic kidney disease, adrenal
diseases, osteogenesis imperfecta, and dialysis follow-up patients.
The majority of the patient population ranges from newborns to age
18 and can include patients up to college graduation. Travelers
will not be expected to work in triage but may assist peer RNs with
form completion. Support within the department includes front desk
attendants, clinical leadership, and a team of clinical
supervisors. Clerical leadership aids in the development of
non-clinical operations. Peer RNs and medical assistants assist
with rooming and POC testing across specialties. There is a lab on
site for phlebotomy, and RNs will draw off central lines. A live
answer team assists with patient calls and messaging. On-site
technology includes EMR and Omnicell for injections and vaccines.
Scheduling is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with no weekend
rotation and holidays off. Request for time off must be approved by
management. The schedule cycle is provided the week before the
