Job Title: RN - PICU Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12hr Day Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: 2 years of strong high acuity Pediatric ICU experience License: RN Certifications: BLS, PALS Must-Have: EPIC experience Experience with Artic Sun Familiarity with EVDs and Camino device (ICP and temperature monitoring) Experience with Belmont Rapid Infuser Management of critical care vasoactive drip titration Management of invasive lines (ART lines, CVP) Aseptic and sterile techniques Basic dressing changes Ventilator and trach management HOFV management Oral/nasal suctioning G-tube/J-tube management Feeding tubes Chest tubes Epidurals PCAs Sedation and analgesic drip management Foley insertion and management Alaris & Medfusion pump management Bedside procedures with providers Discharge skills CRRT experience Ability/competency to float to Pediatric CVICU discussed during interview Description: We are seeking a dedicated RN for our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. This facility features 247 licensed beds and is a Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center. It operates as a teaching hospital and is recognized as a Chest Pain Center and Certified Stroke Center. The unit has a 24-bed capacity with an average patient census of 21-23. The required patient types and common diagnoses include: Respiratory issues Trauma (including both penetrating and non-accidental trauma) DKA Seizures Neurosurgical cases Acute/Chronic Renal Failure Orthopedic cases Surgical cases Transplants (Kidney and partial/whole Liver) Complex medical conditions Blood disorders Patient ratios vary based on acuity, with a typical RN ratio of 2:1, 1:1, or 1:2. You will receive support from a CNA and a unit secretary on each shift. There will be a charge nurse and additional resources, including a phlebotomy team, IV/VAT team, resource nurse, respiratory therapy, intensivist, residents, and APPs available on-site. Technology and equipment utilized include: EMR: EPIC IV Pump: Alaris and Medfusion syringe pumps Medication dispensing: Omnicello Monitors: Philips Equipment such as Belmont Rapid Infuser, Accuvein, PIV Ultrasound, Artic Sun, Camino, EV-1000 Vigileo, I-stat, and Accuryn Floating to Pediatric CVICU, NICU, Neonatal PCU, and General Pediatrics may be required as needed. Scheduling includes weekend rotations with requirements to work specific shifts over a 6-week period. Travelers will work 75% of holidays, including every other holiday's eve and day. RTO must receive manager approval.
