Overview

medical-surgical unit was needed, the first choice by senior
leadershipwas 10 Tower.This has been a challenge that we have met
with open arms and open minds.Throughoutthis experience,10 Tower
staff is nowregardedas the content experts for COVID-19 patients.We
have gained hands-on experience on materials and conditions that
have made our staff even more versatileand invaluable to Atrium
Health.
10T Medical Telemetry is a recipient of the PRISM award (Premier
Recognition in the Specialty of Med/Surg) from the Academy of
Medical/Surgical Nurses, given to outstanding acute care or
med/surg units or adult/pediatric units classified as med/surg. It
is a medical telemetry unit that provides inpatient care 24 hours a
day to the adult population 18 and up. Adult patients are admitted
with acute medical and/or surgical conditions, many with multiple
co- morbidities. The care is delivered for a wide range of
diagnoses, some of these include COPD, diabetes, chest pain,
shortness of breath, pneumonia, fever of unknown etiology and fluid
electrolyte imbalances. 10Talso has the capacity for telemetry
monitors up to 16 patients and administers/monitors several cardiac
drips.
Atrium Healths Carolinas Medical Center (CMC)is the flagship
hospital of Atrium Health, which is distinguished throughout the
Southeastern United States for its excellent patient care and
medical expertise. CMC serves as the regions only Level 1 Trauma
center, is Magnet-designated, and also an approved transplant
center for heart, kidney, pancreas and liver. We also serve as one
of North Carolinas five Academic Medical Center Teaching Hospitals,
providing residency training for more than 200 physicians in 15
specialties and serve as a satellite for the medical school at
UNC-Chapel Hill.
Job Summary
Responsible for the direct provision of patient care and for
assisting the manager with daily operations to include but not
limited to coordination of patient care/outcomes, allocation of
human and fiscal resources, communications, patient throughput,
program development and oversight, patient, physician and employee
rounding, selection, development, and retention of staff, clinical
supervision and performance appraisal, performance improvement
activities, service recovery and compliance with regulatory agency
requirements. Maintains clinical and professional competency as
appropriate to the population of patients served.
Essential Functions
Physical Requirements
Work requires walking, standing, sitting, lifting, reaching,
stooping, bending, pushing, and pulling. Must be able to lift and
support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical
equipment, and supplies. Must speak and understand English
fluently. Intact sense of sight, hearing, smell, and touch. Finger
dexterity. Critical thinking and ability to concentrate.
Education, Experience and Certifications
Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Current RN licensure
in appropriate state. Minimum two years nursing experience
preferred. Previous management experience preferred. BSN required.
RN candidates for external hire or internal promotion without BSN
must be enrolled in a BSN program within 1 year of Hire/Transfer
date and must complete program within 3 years of enrollment in the
program. Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Provider status
according to the American Heart Association. Appropriate
professional certification (either clinical or leadership) is
required within 1 year of eligibility for professional
certification exam. Additional education, training, certifications,
or experience may be required within the department by the nurse
leader.
