(ADHS) assists the Director of Health Services (DHS) in managing
the department of health services (nursing). The position conducts
the nursing process - assessment, planning, implementation, and
evaluation - under the scope of the State's Nurse Practice Act of
Registered Nurse licensure. - The position coordinates resource
utilization, timely and appropriate care interventions, and
interdisciplinary communication to enhance patient and family
satisfaction, adherence to center's clinical systems and regulatory
compliance for the center. - The ADHS Duties is responsible for
collecting, trending, analyzing, and reporting data and manages the
nursing department in the absence of the DHS. - -
-Education/Qualifications -
Currently licensed as RN in the state
in which the facility is located; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
preferred. -
Current CPR certification. -Knowledge
of regulatory standards and compliance requirements including, but
not limited to, OSHA and CMS -Strong organizational and analytical
skills. - -Computer skills required. Must have knowledge of
Microsoft Office products including word, power point and excel.

exploitation, or mistreatment or misappropriation of property by a
court of law; or who has a finding in the State nurse aide registry
concerning abuse, neglect, exploitation, mistreatment of residents
or misappropriation of resident property, or has had a disciplinary
action in effect taken against his/her professional license are not
eligible for employment in this position. - -Experience -
Required: Two years' experience as a
RN with 1-year nursing supervisory experience. -Prefer experience
in long-term care or geriatric nursing. - -Residents Rights -

the individual's wishes. Ensures patients' rights, safety, and
choices are safeguarded. -Evaluates the quality and appropriateness
of healthcare using root cause analysis and monitors outcome
trends. -Facilitates and participates with the nursing staff in
daily care risk identification and resolution, including
communication with the patients, families, and physicians.
-Involves staff in problem solving and resolution of patient/family
and staff complaints/concerns. -Active participant in the QAPI
committee -
Ensures adherence to documentation
guidelines. -Leadership Responsibilities -
Accepts accountability for services
provided to recipients. -Promotes shared decision-making by
providing input into care decisions and by keeping staff informed
of patient care activities. -
Facilitates collegial relationships
among nurse managers and other healthcare professionals.
-Collaborates with the Director of Health Services and others in
planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care delivery.
-Maintains and evaluates an environment that empowers and supports
nurse managers in problem solving and in decision-making to address
identified issues. -Ensures accountability for professional
practice. -Flexes hours when necessary to accommodate staff
education; to address patient care issues; and to meet with family
members unavailable during routine shift hours. -
Participates in weekend clinical
coverage and "on call" rotation ensuring continuity of patient
care, staff supervision and availability of nursing leadership to
families and visitors when necessary. -Functions as acting DHS in
the absence of the DHS. -Clinical Systems and General Nursing Care
Responsibilities -
Coordinates nursing care with other
healthcare disciplines and assists in integrating services across
the continuum of healthcare. -
Notifies other Departments of patient
changes, i.e., room changes, LOA, new admits, discharge, etc.
-Promotes nursing process and critical thinking in nursing care
delivery. -Ensures patients have needed supplies and equipment to
properly manage care. -Participates in clinical risk
identification, strategy planning, and risk reduction. -Makes daily
rounds and spot checks documentation accuracy and completeness on
new admissions, patients with change in condition, patients
triggering occurrence investigations, and patients to be
discharged. -
Visits each newly admitted patient as
soon as possible upon arrival, validating accuracy of assessments
and implementation of risk reducing measures. -Identifies, places,
and monitors patients in the appropriate programs. -Oversees and
evaluates systems to plan, promote, develop, assess, interpret,
validate, and evaluate the implementation of clinical programs,
policies, procedures, and forms. -Oversees and evaluates systems
for patient and staff data collection, information systems, and
processes to support the practice of nursing and care delivery.
-Oversees and evaluates systems for discharge planning and
communication to be released with patient. -
Facilitates and participates in
occurrence investigation ensuring timely and accurate reporting to
nursing administration. -Ensures staff competency for emergency
response and clinical care delivery. -Oversees infection control
practices within the facility. Ensures infection control standards
and biohazard waste procedures are met by collecting, trending, and
reporting data. -Demonstrates the ability to administer medications
and/or treatments timely and according to facility policy. -
-Demonstrates ability to receive, transcribe, and carry out
physician orders. -
Charts progress notes in an
informative, factual manner that reflects the care administered as
well as the patient's response to care. -Helps to ensure that
nursing staff make appropriate diagnoses, evaluate residents
accurately, develop a person-centered care plan, select appropriate
interventions, and communicate effectively. -Personnel Development
Responsibilities -
Participates in the recruitment,
selection, and retention of personnel. -Conducts education
sessions, unit or functional area team meetings, and competency
validation. -
Evaluates performance of direct
report personnel. -Assures appropriate orientation, education,
credentialing and continuing professional development for
personnel. -Provides guidance and counseling for nursing personnel
-Resource Utilization Responsibilities -
Oversees appropriateness of staffing
and scheduling of personnel within scope of practice, competencies,
patient needs and complexity of care. -
Prepares work assignment sheets,
taking into consideration resident safety, resident acuity, staff
availability, and competency of staff. -Adjusts clinical resources
and provides support to ensure patients' care needs are met.
-Completes referrals for patient services as needed by assessing
needs. -Supports and promotes product standards. -Oversees and
evaluates systems to ensure timely medical management and auxiliary
service availability. - -Fiscal Management Responsibilities -
Assists the Director of Health
Services with planning, implementing, monitoring of the budget in
assigned areas of responsibility. -Coordinates patient supply needs
and accurate par levels through the ancillary specialist.
-Understands supports and communicates accurate supply charge
system. -Assures accuracy of the midnight census. -
Oversees master scheduling process
for the nursing department -Supervisory/People Management
Responsibilities -
Assists in planning, coordinating,
and conducting continuing education programs and special in-service
training sessions relevant to the needs of department personnel.
-Staffs the department with capable people. -Ensures that employees
are adequately oriented and trained to perform their duties. -
Reviews employee performance annually
and makes recommendations for pay increases, promotions or
performance improvement plans as deemed appropriate.
-Counsels/disciplines personnel as necessary up to and including
termination. -Establishes and maintains effective two-way
communication to understand the needs and concerns of employees.
-Properly manages employees' personal information. -Devotes
adequate time and attention to personal development and training,
particularly in the management of people resources. -
Receives, investigates, and responds
to employee complaints -Administrative Responsibilities -
Participates in staff meetings,
departmental head meetings and other facility meetings and sits on
required committees. -Maintains confidentiality of necessary
information. -
Follows organization policies and
procedures -Performs any miscellaneous work assignments as may be
required. -Physical Demands -
Primarily large in nature with
exerting up to 35 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull or
otherwise move objects, including the human body; climbing,
