Job Description:
SUMMARY
The Director of IT is responsible for overseeing the technological
infrastructure within the organization in alignment with business
objectives. This role will manage a small team of IT professionals
and will be responsible for the planning, development,
implementation, and maintenance of IT systems and services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide regular updates to senior management on the status of IT
projects, budgets, and overall IT performance.
Perform network troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose common
network problems as needed.
Provides users with network technical support and respond to user's
needs and questions related to all technical issues as needed.
Establish network users, user environment, directories, and
security for networks being installed.
Knowledge of the following devices and systems:
Networking Hardware (Routers, Switches, etc.)
Firewall and VPN Configurations
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) (preferred)
Mobile Devices (iOS and Android)
Video Surveillance Systems
Access Control Systems
Department-Specific Software (Adobe, etc.)
VIP (ERP preferred)
VoIP Systems
BI/AI Systems (preferred)
Perform changes in computer and communication system hardware and
software so that expenses and downtime are minimized while ensuring
reliable and timely services.
Responsible for the development of accounting, sales and warehouse
reports under the VIP System. This will require developing a
significant level of expertise with the VIP Report Writers.
Liaison with the Training manager on IT training programs to
enhance user competency in system utilization.
Negotiate and manage contracts with vendors for IT services and
products.
Lead and manage IT projects to improve existing systems and
implement new technologies.
Responsible for disaster recovery of the various information
systems. Overseeing daily back-ups of the computer systems and
monthly back-ups of the communication systems. This area would also
include maintenance and annual testing of a disaster recovery
plan.
Develop and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness and
value delivery.
Review and approve maintenance contracts and consulting fees.
Provide regular updates to senior management on the status of IT
projects, budgets, and overall IT performance.
Establish and maintain network security protocols, including user
authentication and access controls.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and internal
policies.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and integrate them into the
organization's systems as appropriate.
Manage user data and maintain system security across various
platforms.
Implement best practices in IT governance and risk management.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
Obey all Federal, State and local laws.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Duties require a broad knowledge of a general technical field such
as chemical, civil, electrical, or mechanical engineering,
accounting, finance, journalism, economics, industrial management,
marketing, advertising, or business administration, etc. Education
acquired in four years of college resulting in a B.A. or B.S.
degree or by equivalent on-the-job training. Minimum of 10 years of
experience in IT, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
COMPLEXITY OF DUTIES
Duties are widely varied and include an overall general knowledge
of inter-related company operations, policies, and procedures and
their applications to cases not previously covered. Duties require
considerable judgement, originality and creative thinking to work
independently toward general results; to apply logical thought
processes to define problems, collect and interpret data, establish
facts, and draw valid conclusions' to devise new and modify and
adapt existing methods, techniques and procedures in order to meet
new of unusual requirements and to make related decisions guided by
precedent and within limits of established policies.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Under specific direction where definite objectives or goals are
established requiring the use of a wide range of procedures and the
employee plans and arranges own work and coordinates work with
others, referring only unusual cases to supervisor or others.
RESPONSIBILITY FOR ERRORS
Probable errors may be serious involving losses such as improper
costs, failure to take discounts, overpayment, loss of or holding
up production, waste of material, damage to equipment, etc. Effect
usually confined within the company; but may have minor effect
outside the company. Most of the work not directly verified or
checked.
CONTACT WITH OTHERS
Contacts with other persons within the department on routine
matters or occasional contacts with other departments or outside
the company, furnishing or obtaining information requiring only
ordinary courtesy and tact.
CONFIDENTIAL DATA
Work with some confidential data where the effect of any disclosure
would probably be negligible or where the full import is not
apparent in the routines performed.
MENTAL / VISUAL / AUDITORY DEMAND
Moderately exacting work, requiring mental and visual attention in
flow of work and character of duties along with manual coordination
for over 50% of the time. Ability to define problems, collect data,
establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret
an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or
diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete
variables.

Character of Supervision
Direct supervision of a department involving responsibility for

limited to from two to ten persons.
