Job Title: Sales Manager Department: Sales & Marketing

Reports To: Director of Sales & Marketing

Job Summary

The Sales Manager solicits, negotiates, confirms, and details new and repeat business. This position will work primarily in the small corporate group/catering as well as the social market as needed.

The Sales Manager prepares and executes sales contracts, event orders (EOs), and group resumes to ensure quality product delivery and client satisfaction. This position assists in coordinating all function details with clients to include, but not be limited to, space requirements, meeting times, equipment, menus, and billing.

Job Duties


- All groups with F&B (30 rooms or less, regardless of timeframe) such as but not limited to Corporate events, Weddings, Showers, mitzvahs, graduation celebrations, anniversaries, celebrations of life, family reunions, and galas/fundraisers.
-All groups-Rooms Only (30 rooms or less, regardless of timeframe) such as but not limited to Corporate events, Weddings, Showers, mitzvahs, graduation celebrations, anniversaries, celebrations of life, family reunions, and galas/fundraisers.
-All catering Only, such as but not limited to Corporate events, Weddings, Showers, Mitzvah, graduation celebrations, anniversaries, celebrations of life, family reunions, and galas/fundraisers regardless of timeframe or size
-Responsible for selling banquet space as well as Private Dining Room (Gallery)
-May be assigned corporate groups (+30 rooms on peak) to service/detail
-Receives and responds to all client inquiries within four business hours.
-Negotiates and captures all profitable rooms and catering businesses in accordance with selective selling guidelines.
-Conducts successful site tours with prospective clients and pre-conference meetings with clients and internal team members.
-Prepares and sends requested collateral materials (e.g., catering menus, brochures, meeting room layouts, and area maps) to designated clients or guests.
-Prepares and sends requested proposals and contracts to designated prospective clients.
-Coordinates all details pertaining to each client's "rooming lists" to include room types, shared rooms, room locations, handicap-accessible rooms, room billing, etc. (when applicable)
-Continuously educates Event Planners on hotel procedures, such as meal guarantees, set-up styles, payment terms, available hotel services, etc.
-Coordinates all details to appear on each EO, such as meeting room set-up specifications, banquet food & beverage items, audio/visual equipment, and billing details.
-Distributes event/group resumes, final rooming lists, and EOs to all applicable departments, including Banquets, Culinary, and Rooms.
-Meets clients upon arrival at the hotel and prior to departure to ensure all contract details will be/have been delivered.
-Documents and reports all sales activities as required in a timely, accurate and consistent manner.
-Maintains an active list of the top event and meeting planners and performs continuous relationship building via phone calls, visits, entertaining, etc.
-Implements effective methods to ensure meeting planner satisfaction scores are met or exceeded.
Education and Experience

-Bachelor's degree in hospitality, business, marketing, or related field preferred
-Minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience in convention services, banquets, hotel sales, marketing, or equivalent education and experience
-CI/TY or Delphi experience preferred
Skills and Abilities

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills
-Strong listening skills
-Execute functions and be on-site during functions when necessary
-Weekends and Holidays are required
-Excellent public speaking/presentation skills
-Strong planning, organizational, and time management skills
-Ability to pay close attention to details
-Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel
-Excellent analytical skills to measure business potential and value to the hotel
-Self-motivated
-Ability to travel throughout assigned territory
-Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends to accommodate business needs
Physical Requirements

-Ability to talk, hear, reach, sit, stand, walk, grasp, and perform repetitive motions
-Ability to push, pull, lift, carry or otherwise move up to 10 lbs. occasionally
