Thank you for your interest in a position with the AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company (Equitable).

Equitable recently went through an IPO and became a publicly listed company. As part of the IPO process, senior management identified substantial additional investments to make within the Actuarial and Risk organizations.

Model Risk Management is one such growth area identified within the Risk team, in particular related to Model Validation. The Director - Model Validation position offers a unique opportunity to shape a growing team and institute best practices at a company experiencing rapid and positive change.

The Director - Model Validation will be a member of the Model Risk Management team that oversees management of the risk inherent in models (e.g. Actuarial, financial) used throughout the company. This individual will be part of a team performing Model Validations on existing and new models, responsible for the validation of model calculations.

--- Join a dynamic new team and help shape a new function following the IPO

--- Positively impact decision making by securing the models used for financial reporting, risk measurement, pricing, and strategic business decisions

--- Deepen understanding of the products, assumptions, models, and processes across different areas (Life Insurance/Annuity/Health, Inforce/New Business)

--- Enhance modeling and risk management skills

--- Be part of a growing industry-wide actuarial and risk practice area

Job Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

--- Lead the development of tools for independent recalculation of actuarial projection systems

--- Maintain and enhance key independent recalculation tools and collaborate with the modeling team on maintenance of all other tools

--- Lead a team of 2 that is within the larger Model Validation group

--- Support model validations by leading calculation validation using independent tools, including hands-on management to ensure timely and high-quality delivery, promoting overall efficiency

--- Perform other model validation activities as needed

--- Produce and review documentation for independent tools and validation support

--- Perform independent review of model validations performed by other team members

--- Support Model Risk Governance function performing risk reviews of model changes

---Support maintenance and enhancement of the Model Validation Framework, including research of leading practices

Minimum Qualifications--- Bachelors degree in Mathematics, Statistics and/or Actuarial Science--- FSA Designation

--- 6 years of actuarial experience

--- 1 years people management experience

--- 4 years experience with liability modeling and actuarial projection systems (GGY-AXIS is a plus)
Preferred Qualifications--- Proficiency in MS Excel and VBA--- Experience with Variable Annuities with enhanced Guarantees (GMxB's) and/or Universal/Variable/Indexed Life Insurance is preferred--- Experience with independent recalculation of actuarial projection systems is preferred--- Model Risk Management or Audit experience is a plus--- Must possess strong accountability, high quality of work ethic, strong organizational skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and be a good self-starter
