Job Description:

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Sr. Unix Engineer / Application (Java) Support Specialist with our client in the financial industry located in Charlotte, NC. This is a 12 + month contract position.

Responsibilities:
Java Application Support Specialist and Linux Engineer role
Install, configure and maintain various components of LINUX operating systems
Maintain comprehensive documentation of processes and system configurations
Plan and implement system upgrades, including hardware and software
Provide technical support and guidance to users and other administrators
Group and user account management in LINUX environment

Requirements:
10+ years' experience in large, UNIX/LINUX environments as System Administrator or Network Administrator
Experience providing support to Java applications
Detailed expertise in command line interface and scripting languages.
Intimate knowledge of file permissions and group and user security issues


Desired Skills:
System and event management monitoring and logging systems (SPLUNK)
SQL knowledge and skills (Oracle or Teradata). Command line editing (vi editor)
In depth knowledge of Linux File System Hierarchy and directories like /bin, /etc., /home, and /var
Prior significance operating with the root level directory permissions
System security experience, especially working with SSH and pseudo commands and familiarity with Power Broker concepts
Job automation and scheduling tools like AutoSys or CA7
Shell scripting experience with SED
