Haskell's Design & Consulting Services (DCS) Group unites
architecture, engineering, and consulting professionals from across
industries and geographies. While some clients are looking for
turnkey design-build or engineer-procure-construct projects, the
DCS Group serves clients who need specialized, fee-for-service
design or consulting projects. These types of projects allow our
team to form a strong rapport with client teams, marshaling them as
they grow and helping them address industry and market challenges.
The DCS Group serves four primary markets: Civil Infrastructure;
Government, primarily the Department of Defense, U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers, Air and Army National Guard, and the U.S. Naval
Facilities Command; Industrial, focusing on food and beverage,
consumer products, and utilities; and Healthcare.
In this role, you will direct and be accountable for all aspects of
the Transportation Engineering business in the Charlotte Office.
The candidate will help create a strategic plan for a
Transportation Engineering business in the North Carolina and South
Carolina markets. The plan will align with the overall Haskell
strategic plan for the development of a Transportation Design
business in all the Haskell offices.
Job Responsibilities:
Facilitate the creation of a strategic plan in alignment with the
overall Haskell strategic plan for the development of a
Transportation and Civil Infrastructure Design business in North
Carolina
Identify existing and new target clients for the establishment of
the business in the Carolinas
Execute projects, meeting or exceeding client expectations for
quality, schedule, and budget
Execute projects, meeting or exceeding internal expectations for
quality, schedule, labor/cost budgets, project profitability,
safety, and client satisfaction
Hire and grow a team who will complete the following in support of
the office:
Create & cultivate key relationships within target client
organizations
Identify project opportunities early and facilitate go/no-go
decisions in cooperation with Haskell leadership
Grow a successful engineering office
Recruit key project staff with design and project management
capabilities
Collaborate to leverage existing Benham and Haskell engineering and
design-build capabilities for the growth of the organization
Ensure profitable and sound growth
Participate in go/no-go evaluations, ensure the establishment of
project work plans, and review fee estimates
Recruit, develop, and retain high performers
Education/Experience:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil or Structural
Engineering
10 years of progressive experience in transportation design leading
to 5 years as an independent lead designer and culminating with at
least 3 years successfully performing design management and
coordination activities as a project manager or in assistance to a
design project manager
Manager - Working knowledge of one or two highly related design
disciplines (civil, roadway, or bridge) and the ability to manage
and coordinate all design activities thereof
Specific Knowledge, Skills, License, Certifications:
Must be a Registered Professional Engineer in NC
Intermediate skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Knowledge of design document production and presentation
software
Ability to budget, manage and forecast in EcoSys or other business
unit approved design management software
Communications, negotiations, management, and leadership skills
Knowledge and experience in design project management including,
but not limited to, budgeting, scheduling, proposal writing,
staffing, coordination, forecasting, conflict resolution, and
change management
Environmental Factors and/or Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, this position is required
to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other
locations; and the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch,
and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50
pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, and arm, hand and
finger dexterity, including the ability to grasp, and visual acuity
to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application/form
information. The associate frequently is required to sit, reach
with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
