EPOC Enviro is seeking an Industrial Automation and Controls
Engineer to oversee the assembly and commissioning of the SAFF -
units (containerized water treatment plants) as they are produced
in the United States. This engineer will ensure electrical
compliance and safety within the U.S. and take ownership of
electrical components used in domestic SAFF - design and
production.
The Industrial Automation and Control Engineer will troubleshoot
electrical and control related issues, both in the manufacturing
plant and in the field. They will also manage and implement
electrical and control changes as they are released and work with
the Australian control team to help generate additional
improvements to the electrical and control system.
Please note, the Industrial Automation and Controls Engineer will
be required to travel to Australia for 3 weeks of training. A
current passport and ability to travel internationally is required.
After training, occasional travel will be expected for this
role.
Responsibilities
The following represents a list of essential duties and
responsibilities; other duties may be assigned as required.
- Ensure the quality of control systems and electrical assemblies
in the finished SAFF - units produced in the United
States.
- With the help of the manufacturing team, ensure that the
control, electrical, and telemetry components are installed in the
SAFF - systems as per the current designs.
- Ensure that the software and programs are correctly loaded and
configured on the PLC and onboard computer.
- Design and implement testing and commissioning programs for the
electrical and control systems in the units before they leave the
factory.
- Continually develop and improve the quality of the control
system, programming, and HMI display to improve both the
performance of the SAFF - units and the customer
experience.
- Responsible for ensuring that components, programming, and any
software remain functional as the SAFF - design moves through
future iterations.
- Help with creating and updating documentation including control
philosophies, manuals, electrical wiring diagrams, P&IDs,
schematics etc.
- Ensure compliance with electrical codes and practice and lead
electrical safety initiatives.
- Develop work instructions and training plans for electricians
and SAFF - manufacturing staff.
- Oversee and work alongside electricians and other manufacturing
technicians to build their capability.
- Responsible for programming version control on all SAFF -
units, storing and deploying backups where necessary.
- Assist as needed with troubleshooting electrical and control
related issues on units in the field either via remote telemetry or
on site.
Qualifications
Mandatory Knowledge & Skills:
- Able to program both PLCs and HMIs. Has a comprehensive
understanding of PLC ladder logic. Able to interpret, understand
and modify existing PLC programs from any OEM.
- Experience in PLC and/or DCS control system design. Has
experience designing control cabinets/electrical panels for
projects. Able to generate schematics and wiring diagrams for plant
electrical and control equipment.
- Able to understand, interpret and work from wiring diagrams and
schematics to assemble and install control systems and
control/electrical panels.
- Able to design, build and troubleshoot motor control circuits.
Able to install, configure, and troubleshoot electronic variable
speed drives.
- Proficient knowledge of electrical distribution systems at
various voltages.
- Able to safely troubleshoot electrical and electronic
equipment, diagnose and correct faults.
- Working knowledge of instrumentation and of final
elements/actuators.
- Working knowledge of electrical codes and regulations. Familiar
with applicable control industry codes and processes.
Desirable:
- At least 5 - 7 years of experience in a relevant electrical or
controls position.
- Experience configuring telemetry/remote access
systems.
- Experience working with databases and database
programming.
- Experience in industrial plant control system testing
commissioning and startup.
- Degree education in either control engineering, automation,
electrical engineering, or related diploma.
