Job Description:
Position Summary: The Network Engineer position is responsible
for providing network and network security design and support
services for corporate offices and power generation facilities.
Secondary responsibilities include security-focused support for
Active Directory infrastructure, Microsoft operating systems and
security related systems. A successful candidate will provide the
company with critical technical and management skills required to
develop and maintain a secure and available IT network
Infrastructure in a fast-paced, complex IT environment. This
individual must be a positive influence and be a self-motivated
team-player with a passion for personal and professional
achievement. Excellent interpersonal communication skills are a
must while working with managers, IT team, internal personnel and
vendors. Strong organizational skills and project management
capabilities with the ability to execute technical projects
securely, accurately and on-time. Principal Duties and
Responsibilities: 1. Design, engineer, configure and support
network systems, security systems and related software. (Routers,
switches, firewalls, VPNs, various Wi-Fi systems, two-factor
authentication systems, etc.)2. Maintain and configure network
routing protocols for LAN and WAN systems. (EIGRP and BGP)3. Design
and support complex VPN WAN systems, LANs and IP Telephony4. Update
network infrastructure firmware and software to ensure optimum
security and resilience5. Troubleshoot and resolve network and
security issues in a timely manner as required6. Manage support
issues related to all telecom services (Internet, private WAN,
voice) 7. Ensure technical and support documentation is updated and
accurate8. Manage and maintain underlying core infrastructure
systems (e.g. 802.1Q, HSRP, DHCP, DNS, SNMP)9. Manage and support
digital certificates, public domain names, and public DNS10.
Identify opportunities and recommend solutions to improve overall
network security, performance, reliability and availability11.
Ensure confidentially, integrity, and availability of network and
security systems 12. Work with IT team and business stakeholders to
meet network and network security needs13. Develop network/security
project plans and manage execution of projects to ensure objectives
are identified, executed on-time, track metrics, and ensure quality
assurance
Qualifications: 1. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Networking
or relevant work experience2. CCNA/CCNP with 5 or more years of
real-world LAN/WAN/Firewall network and security experience3.
Experience with industrial control systems and NERC CIP standards
is a plus4. Strong knowledge of the Cisco networking and Palo Alto
firewalls5. Strong knowledge of security best practices and
configuration 6. Extensive experience with Cisco IOS. Demonstrated
knowledge of TCP/IP, VPN, routing and switching7. Experience with
developing and maintaining access controls and firewall rules to
maximize security8. Strong written, verbal communication skills as
well as presentation skills 9. Must be able to take initiative and
ownership responsibility for projects10. Must display positive
outlook, leadership, teamwork and collaboration skills11. Have a
commitment to the highest ethical standards in IT and security
