Job Description:
Job Description The Electrical Design Engineer is responsible
for designing control panels for turnkey liquid processing systems
(primarily breweries) utilizing SIEMENS components. As equipment
projects are sold project managers build out control narratives and
components lists that the Electrical Design Engineer will utilize
to generate drawings and a bill of materials. Upon completion of
design and procurement of parts, the role will include assigning
panel build outs to the panel technicians as well as working hand
in hand with programmers to ensure software and hardware accomplish
integrate seamlessly. Typical system components that need to be
controlled are mixers, pumps, valves, heaters, burners, and
instrumentation. Job Responsibilities
- Work with project managers to generate control panel design
including schematic design, sheet drawings, field wiring drawings,
and bill of materials
- Develop panel schematics, sheet drawings, and bill of materials
for high and low voltage automation on liquid processing sanitary
systems (example: breweries)
- Work with project managers to generate basis of design
utilizing component lists and control narratives
- Have a thorough understanding of programming logic to ensure
the relationship between hardware and software allows for seamless
integration
- Have a thorough understanding of electrical components to
expand upon current designs and allow for more automation within
system designs
- Continuously search for more efficient and cost effective panel
components and software
- Understand P&IDs and develop I/O list, size wire and
conduit; spec and develop elementaries, panel layouts, plan cable
schedule
- Collaborate with customers and internal engineers on project
work
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously including managing
budget
- Manage the control panel build shop and assign panel build outs
to technicians
- Work with programmer to integrate software with hardware
- Maintain UL Certification for Panel Shop
- Assist with customer troubleshooting on previously built
control panels
- Quoting new panel designs with materials for new designs as
well as iterations of previous designs
- Purchase panel build shop consumables and ensure parts are
available as needed (wire, etc.)
- Wire up test equipment and completed project panels for quality
control testing
- Assist with panel shop SOPs and develop good practices for
quality control as well as day to day panel build outs
- 10% travel to job sites as needed Education & Experience
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
- 5 years of experience working on electrical & instrumentation
drawings
- 5 years experience creating UL panel designs
- 5 years maintaining UL Certifications for panel design
shop
- 2 years working with industrial processing (liquid processing
preferred)
- Knowledge of Siemens electrical components
- Proven experience with Microsoft Excel and AutoCAD
- Knowledgeable of electrical code including class 1 div 1 & 2
panels designs Considered a plus but not required:
- A Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering is a plus with
extra consideration given if degree Candidate Character Trait
