The Environment: Spectrum News is a 24-hour breaking news network which requires employees who are flexible and available to work various shift, including early morning, late evenings, weekends and holidays. JOB SUMMARYThe Anchor/Reporter-MMJ is responsible for anchoring assigned newscasts and reporting for assigned newscasts. Researches, enterprises, develops, writes, edits, and shoots own stories on deadline for recorded or live newscast. Newsroom leader.MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESEnterprise original news stories; gather information for news stories using beat sources, contacts and leadsDeliver newscasts with evaluation based poise; voice quality which is authoritative, credible, and conversational; ad-lib capability, and ability to handle breaking news on-air.Report, write and edit news stories within assigned deadlines. Emphasis on reporting skills as important as anchoring skillsEdit news stories on air and online within assigned deadlinesEnterprise original news stories; gather information for news stories using beat sources, contacts and leadsDeliver news reports, including live reports, demonstrating energy, confidence, professional appearance and voice qualityWrites, shoots and edits own news stories for an assigned newscast or news seriesWrites own news copy for an assigned newscast or news series and operate teleprompter controlsFill-in for other anchor positionsStrategically engages in social mediaEstablish a community presence outside of the newscastsPerforms other duties as assignedREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Skills/Abilities and KnowledgeAbility to read, write, speak and understand EnglishDemonstrated ability to lead people and obtain results through othersStrong story development skills to submit original story ideas on a daily basisMust be able to develop sources, work a beat, and break storiesMust have strong on-camera skills with the ability to read narration effectivelyFamiliar with editing news videosAbility to organize and manage multiple priorities and work under time pressure deadlineExcellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly communicate solutions; ability to relate well with diverse populations and age groupsAbility to interface with internal company personnelRequires adaptability, enthusiasm, initiative and a positive approach to problem solving Must be able and willing to work different shifts and be flexible with schedule changes Emphasis on reporting skills and anchoring skillsMust have a valid driver's licenseAd-lib capability and ability to handle breaking news on-airEDUCATIONBachelor's degree in Journalism or related field or comparable television work experience preferredRELATED WORK EXPERIENCE3+ Years Television news reporting and anchoring experience, including live shooting WORKING CONDITIONSWorks inside a climate controlled environment throughout the year but will be assigned to field duties regularlyMay be required to lift up to 25 poundsDrives company vehicle to and from different locations in a safe manner by obeying all traffic lawsMust obtain and maintain a valid driver's license in the state of residenceOur Culture: Every employee is an influencer and culture keeper. May entail phone or physical presence at the facility for equipment failure or other disasters.
