Senior -Manager - Accounting & Reporting, Reinsurance role is a
vital part of the Finance Organization at Equitable. The primary
focus of this position is to oversee accounting and financial
reporting of Equitable's internal reinsurance portfolio, including
life and annuity policies issued between Equitable's insurance
subsidiaries. This position offers unique opportunities to utilize
your project management, product implementation, and accounting
system & design expertise, through management of various key
accounting and reporting initiatives. The ideal candidate will work
closely with our team to deliver on the monthly and annual
reporting process, and the many accounting/reporting requests
received from various internal and external stakeholders, including
various exposure opportunities with our Chief Accounting office,
external auditor, IT -and SOX.Come join a best-in-class operation,
within a leading financial leader! - Key Job Responsibilities -
- Prepare and oversee all internal reinsurance entries required
for the accurate closing of the monthly, quarterly, and annual
financial results.
- Compile and review reinsurance related footnote disclosures and
reinsurance related annual statements schedules
- Develop and maintain deep understanding of reinsurance treaty
provisions and serve as a subject matter expert for various
inquiries of accounting impact
- Prepare and/or review and analyze monthly and quarterly treaty
settlement statements and manage reinsurance receivables and
payables with counterparties
- Analyze and monitor actual treaty experience in accordance with
corporate risk sharing and retention limits
- Prepare and analyze reinsurance treaty financial results and
analyze trends relative to prior periods, annual budget and
strategic plans
- Design efficient, effective and scalable processes and controls
with focus on continuous improvement
- Coordinate required communication and documentation gathering
to support internal and external audits
- Ensures effective controls over SOX compliance, and efficient &
timely closeout of external -audit requests
- Leads projects and financial analysis for various accounting,
product and reinsurance initiatives
- Work with management and team members to evaluate and implement
process improvement initiatives The base salary range for this
position is $67,000 - $100,000. Actual base salaries vary based on
skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base
pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with
base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive
compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends
on level and functional area of responsibility. For eligible

- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
- 5+ years of financial accounting and reporting experience
- Able to develop business insights from data analysis and
communicate clearly to stakeholders
- Intermediate to Advanced use of data gathering, query and
analysis tools (i.e. Excel, MS Access)
- Continuous improvement mindset with experience in designing new
ways of working and leading teams through change Preferred
Qualifications
- Business knowledge in areas of insurance/reinsurance
- Effective oral and written communication skills with staff,
peers, superiors and internal/external stakeholders
- Experience in US Stat, GAAP accounting and reporting
preferred
- Demonstrated problem solver and leadership qualities in a
collaborative business domain
- Additional technical expertise using query tools and advanced
functions a plus
- Ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptive and solution driven
Skills Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and
tools; ability to maintain and prepare financial statements and
reports using accounting methods and processes. Accuracy and
Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of
accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.
Data Gathering and Reporting: Knowledge of tools, techniques and
processes for gathering and reporting data; ability to practice
them in a particular department or division of a company. Financial
and Accounting Systems: Knowledge of functions, features and
capabilities of financial and accounting systems; ability to use
financial and accounting applications specific to the organization.
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP): Knowledge of the
generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); ability to apply
GAAP appropriately within the organization. Problem Solving:
Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing,
anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process
problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving
